We have a 1.1.1 Jailbreak!!!

What I want to know is does this mean we WONT HAVE bricked
phones if we upgrade from 1.0.2 jailbreaked and unlocked?

I read this to mean that it is still not safe to update an unlocked phone (yet), but that if you already have a brick, you can now activate and use it on 1.1.1 (minus the busted phone). Of course, if you had a brick, you could have downgraded to 1.0.2 since it was discovered how anyway.

Also, those that are on a legit locked 1.1.1 will soon be able to use 3rd party apps, once the infrastructure like AppTapp gets updated. Due to framework differences, apps might need to be recompiled for 1.1.1, so there are issues there too.

So in other words, hang on in 1.0.2 for the moment until the baseband problem is solved. But this is a big step forward still, and will hopefully help with a 1.1.1 unlock later, as well as a method to avoid bricking.

That's really sleazy that the Springboard no longer recognizes a list of other apps, but hardcodes just the Apple ones.

There was only one reason to do something like that.

Proves once again that Apple is not the company people think it is.

Yeah, that sucks, but I'm sure it won't be long until there are workarounds. For starters, you could just replace a "useless" Apple app such as Stocks/Notes with an app launcher. So 3rd party would be relegated to a second screen away from home, but I'm sure a better solution will come out later.

But yeah, I agree, this shows that Apple is trying to stop/hinder 3rd party apps directly, not just prevent access in order to hinder unlocking as some people have suggested.

You miss the point, the Dev team does their work because they want to for fun, it's a hobby to them, that and they want to run whatever apps they want on their iPhones.

And the point missed by so many around here is, if you hack your phone, don't complain if a by-product of it is that apple updates may reduce the functionality of it.

If the pill bottle says take one pill daily and you down 5.

Don't call us from the morge about "your rights" or "how you owned the pill bottle and did not give it permission to OD you."

you guys should have waited until Apple released an update worth updating to before playing your hand.

From an english speaking perspective I would agree that the 1.1.1 firmware doesn't appear to be much of an improvement. However I think the 1.1.1 was mostly about internationalization (or internationalisation if you prefer) prior to the FR?/DE launch. For them they get stuff they need like umlauts and accents.

You do realize that for ANY 3rd party software to work it has to jailbreak the phone. That goes for apps and any non-Apple ringtones.

Not true.

"I think a good indication of how we did is that when Apple updated iTunes from 7.4.1 to 7.4.2, they broke all of the other non-Jailbreak techniques for putting ringtones on your iPhone, but iToner continued to work unmodified." (Andrew Welch / el Presidente / http://www.AmbrosiaSW.com/)

Indeed, just look at Windows Mobile, anyone can develop apps for it...
Same as with Symbian.

A thousand apologies!! I didn't realize your opinion was the only one that mattered. My mistake!

No....but I think his point is that your's matters less:D

seriously though, why are you trolling in this thread? What's the point when you KNOW you're just asking for some flamage?
