Or do you think AT&T has some exclusivity on it? It wouldn't make any sense for Apple to launch the new iPhone on one network while not on another. If they do launch I'm sure all the people swooping up to get a ViPhone 4 now will get pissed over the summer launch.

People on MacRumors message boards don't know anything more than you do.

Most likely scenario is that AT&T will get a 6 month exclusive to new iPhones and Verizon will get them during either the holiday season or Jan/Feb time frame. Highly doubtful that Apple is going to release a version now and then another version in 5 months when their early adopters are locked in....would just be bad business and un-Applelike. But like others have said, nobody knows for sure.

Actually, no-one outside of Apple knows if the iPhone 5 is coming out in Summer or not: Previous release history points to that, but nothing has been announced and anything else is just speculation

No shot of this happening. Apple wouldn't let it's premier product fall THAT far behind the rest of the industry.

If that's the mentality, then expect to see an LTE model this summer. If it's not LTE, it's behind the rest of the industry.

AT&T already said at CES that an LTE iPhone isn't due until 2012. Most likely Apple will upgrade the specs of the iPhone 4 this summer and will release new hardware with LTE around June 2012.

iphone 5? no. I bet anything its an iphone 4s or 4hd. Theyre not going to revamp the entire phone again yet

My money is on yes.

My best guess is the iPhone 5 will be a minor hardware update. It'll basically be the iPhone 4 with a better processor, maybe a better camera, and other minor tweaks. The iPhone 5 might be a CDMA/GSM phone so all carriers have one model. It will not have LTE.

This summer the focus will be on iOS 5.x, with a software overhaul in store, and the focus will not be hardware.

Then in the summer of 2012 we will see a new hardware refresh with LTE and other 4G capabilities.

I just don't see Apple doing a major hardware refresh considering the 4 was a pretty big change from the 3G/S. Think 3G -> 3GS

Yup.

Don't be surprised to not see iPhone 5 until January 2012 for all carriers worldwide.

No, that's wrong.

Again, I posted somewhere else. I met one of the head of Apple's iphone/ipad motherboard manufactuers over in Asia.

First, very little change (in terms of motherboard design) with iphone 4 vs. iphone 5.

Second, he said iphone 5 will be released a little later, possibly early Q3 2011 as opposed to June/July 2011 that everyone is expecting.

I'd say yes because there's tons of iPhone users still on AT&T and they're not willing to paying ETF to go to Verizon now. I also think that iPhone 5 will be compatible with both GSM/CDMA so it's one product instead of two. Unless, of course, there are terms with AT&T to release new iPhones to them first...

What makes you think there's going to be an iPhone 5 in the summer? There's no proof that there will be.

AT&T already said no 4g iPhone until 2012.

My bet is on a new iOS for June 2011 and an new "world" iPhone next February.

Looks like the iPad and iPhone switched spots in the fiscal year. iPhone in february and iPad in June.

I agree. Whatever the next update is, it won't be a major one like the iPhone 4 was. I'm anticipating a slight speed bump, maybe a capacity bump, and hopefully a white option. I don't think we'll get the dual-core LTE phone people are expecting until 2012.
