I’ve said this already but a mini that’s the size of the outer screen on the ultra would be a must upgrade. I love the size after playing around with the Samsung fold 8

As long as the phone is 100% usable when folded. I wouldn't be completely surprised if Apple gimps the front screen interface to encourage users to open it up to use it.
I would be. Degrading user experience and functionality isn't their M.O. The whole point of this exercise is to demonstrate capability, in order to sell a *very* expensive product. Anything that doesn't align with the price:experience ratio isn't going to be on the table.

I don't understand people who compare two different screen sizes without considering the aspect ratio based on screen resolution.

I would say comparing 4" (~16:9) to 4.7" (~16:9) to 5.5 (16:9) is valid.
I would say comparing 5.4" (~19.5:9) to 5.8" (~19.5:9) to 6.1" (~19.5:9) to 6.3" (~19.5:9) to 6.5" (~19.5:9) to 6.7 (~19.5:9) to 6.9" (~19.5:9) is valid.

I doubt the public hated it. They just never cared or even thought about it. It was likely just never in their radar.
This was the case for me. Until I got my green 13 mini to try in December I never understood exactly what I chose to miss out on. I now use my 13 mini full time as a backup iPhone when I don’t want to carry around my 16 Pro. I find the 13 mini with iOS 27 to be a very capable iPhone today but I’m saying this is my opinion based on my use case.

Curious how do you compare iOS 27 (presumably a recent beta?) versus iOS 18 on the 13 mini?

For me the difference was the liquid glass interface. I liked having this. My 13 mini was purchased pre-owned so it arrived with iOS 26 installed and I did not like this iOS as it was causing my mini to lag a bit. iOS 27 is much more responsive in comparison.

I agree, but the market is just not there. The Air worked pretty well for the last 12 months.

I would rather have a very small light form factor with a really powerful battery. I think we are getting to a point where the computer power and content consumption is really draining batteries fast.... I wouldn't want a Mini that's as thick as a pro for the battery because then its back to putting the brick in your pocket.
