Companies legally have the right to change it. It's not false advertising, because they never advertised it. Their advertised contents states it doesn't include an adapter.

----------

They can't change that, as their advertised contents show that it is included.

This is their advertised contents under "In the Box"

iPhone 4S
Apple Earphones with Remote and Mic
Dock Connector to USB Cable
USB Power Adapter

Thanks I too am familiar what's IN the box. Nothing inaccurate about that. What we're talking about here is what Apple claimed we should be getting in addition to that. This was CLEARLY stated in their POS system. Not a price mistake or a spelling error like the kind you regularly see on other sites.

----------

They stated it was a mistake, just like if you were at the store and an item was mislabled as the wrong price. the store isn't legally bound to give you the price if they state it was a mistake.

They can be nice and give people the adapter anyway, but they are not legally bound to.

True, but if they want to keep their #1 JD Power ranking then they may need to do something about this. I have received various sorts of compensation from Amazon for mistakes they made with my orders. They never give a hard time about it. Looks like this is a chance for Amazon to one up Apple and take the top spot on the JD ranking.

Actually according to Distance Selling Regulations and Sales of Goods Act (application to me as a UK citizen, but further as I am purchasing the device from Apple Euro (Ireland), an EU member state), the product must be provided as it "matches the description". The "matches the description" is defined when a customer purchases a product or set of products based on any description given about it. The text and the wording made is absolutely explicitly clear to me that the iPhone already includes an adapter, and I made the decision not to purchase one which would be an additional one.

With regards to pricing, this is only relevant if the error is a significant but blatant error, e.g £5.99 and £599.00.

As my money has already been taken by Apple, the contract of sale has already been entered by both Apple and I.

I have also not seen any public notation suggesting that this was an error, and I am not likely to believe a customer representative whom I am not able to tract.

You really think this will affect it their ranking? It won't make one little bit of difference.

As I had stated earlier, they can give customers the adapter, there is just no legal requirement for them to do so.
What Amazon does is for customer loyalty, they have to work harder than Apple at that.

No. What I'm saying is if Apple continues this practice of shoving it to the customer, they'll drop in rank.

Apple did the right thing when he provided 1st gen iphone buyers $200 (thanks Steve!). They could have easily said tough luck but Steve set the standard for how Apple should treat customers. The free bumpers as a result of antennagate was also a considerate notion although more of a PR disaster recovery move. Nevertheless, they stayed true to form.
