Nodger, I did not mean to offend you, obviously you can wear what you want
I have the SS and my girlfriend has the Sport. She loves her Sport and doesn't like the SS
I was just curious why some people find the SS heavy when there are so many watches that men wear that are much bigger and heavier

Apologies - I prob over-reacted:) It's a good point - for me I've not been wearing watches for a few years so I noticed the difference. I've been quite torn between which one to keep - SGS or SS - so I've ben consciously weighing up the subtle differences and weight is one of them.

And you wear them both on your wrist?

Are you stating that because something is worn, it is unarguably better that it be heavier? If anything, if its being worn, higher quality items should be lighter.

Granted, gold is a heavier metal than most other forms of metals used for jewelry, but this does not translate into steel being better for jewlery than aluminum because it is heavier. Unless, that is, you are trying to evoke the feeling of wearing gold on your wrist without actually paying the cost of a precious metal.

Whatever. It is clear that a socially acceptable form of jewelry on the wrist for normative men is the watch and that fashion is often illogical and fickle. Enjoy your steel watch.

I'm stating that this is a thread about watches and the weight of your computers is irrelevant.

Clearly, no analogies allowed when discussing watches, clearly.

It's not remotely the same thing, as (as I said above), you don't wear the computer on your wrist). The computer is not jewelry.

You want to rock an analogy, you should find one that works, is all.

I owned the SGS for two weeks, then returned it for an SS. It was a personal preference for a brighter, shinier, more upscale looking watch case and sapphire over Ion-X (both for its higher scratch resistance and glossier look).

I did notice weaker haptics on the SS right away, and I have missed a few more notifications. By the way, I have a leather loop, and came from a sport band. It's not just a metal strap thing.

The reduction in haptic strength is not serious and it depends on the type of notification. For example, I never miss a Timer notification, which a combination of "buzzing" and tapping that repeats. I do sometimes miss an iMessage notification, which is just a couple of taps. I missed a few on the sport but more on the SS.

I have switched to 3x repeats on iMessage notifications and have turned on Prominent Haptics. We'll see how that goes. But I'm not hugely concerned about this difference and am still happy with my watch choice because I love how it looks and feels, and mostly don't miss notifications. I'm also pretty certain we'll continue to see improvements to haptic settings including the option to change the haptic pattern for each notification (like we can change iPhone notification vibrations now). We might even see this in a point release prior to WatchOS 2.

As an aside, I think some folks are getting too wrapped up in their watch choice, given some of these comments. The sport is not a "toy". The extra weight of the SS is noticeable to some (including me) and is not necessarily what everyone wants. In my case I was drawn to the shiny SS case, and the weight difference takes little time to get used to, but I also would have been happy with the silver Sport. I was not as happy with the Space Grey Sport that I initially chose, but that was as much the dark matte color as it was the material.

The good thing here is that Apple has given us many choices. Some of us struggle with which choice to make, so thankfully Apple has a good exchange policy.

If you were seriously thinking of buying the SS then just do it because very soon you'll regret having to wear a toy looking watch

I think the space gray sport looks very sophisticated and high tech, not toyish at all. That said, I prefer the steel model for the smoother crown and slightly more heft, though I do wish it still felt a little more substantial. In terms of feel, coming from a steel dive watch, all the Apple watches feel pretty wimpy to me.
