I am brand new to smartphones, iphones (particularly iphone 7+), and iOS, but I have still detected a number of shortcomings. Here's a list of the things that irk me most:

1. Poor volume control. Unless I'm missing something, the iphone can only be adjusted in increments using the side buttons, and the increments are too large. It would be nice if they were more subtle.

2. Low power mode could use a whole raft of controls. There doesn't seem to be any way to fine tune things, like how long the iphone takes to dim the screen or enter sleep mode.

3. Moving apps is tenuous. One must make them active to move them, but this puts them in a state where they can be easily deleted, and the slightest wrong move with the finger can delete them instead of moving them to another place. Or, one can accidentally drop them into another app folder. It shouldn't be nerve racking to move apps around.

4. No obvious control for mechanical notice of "email sent." When I first got my iphone, I noticed that when I sent pictures by email, the phone did that little mechanical jump that one feels in the hand (if anyone knows the precise name of this function, kindly let me know) to let me know that the email was sent, but at some point the iphone arbitrarily stopped notifying me this way, and I have no idea why. the emails get sent, but no mechanical notification of success. I've rooted around in the settings looking for a control of this specific function, but haven't found one.

There are other things I've come across that could use tweaking, but they're not jumping out at me at the moment.

Addendum: Apparently, one cannot edit titles in Macrumors.

Swipe up to bring up the control center. Adjust the volume from there. Force touch the volume slider to bring up a larger slider for more fine tuning.

This is pretty standard for Apple. More adjustability and customization would be nice, but I don’t expect it.

If you hit the x on the icon it still displays a confirmation before the app is deleted.

[doublepost=1533275336][/doublepost]Thanks for the reply. I just tried moving an app, and all of a sudden the word entertainment appeared across my screen, and all app icons in the back screen went fuzzy. Waited for perhaps two or more minutes, and once I realized nothing was going to change, I powered off. When I turned the phone back on, a had two apps in a folder called entertainment. When I made them jiggly, I tried to move them back to the home page, but they won't leave the folder. I still maintain this aspect of iphone function is sketchy, but I'll keep working on it. On a positive note, using your guidance I got the vibration back. Thanks. Will continue to work on these things.

Yeah it’s a bit fiddly. I don’t end up moving my icons around much anymore. I’ve got a layout that works for me and I don’t download many apps.

This simply down to getting used to a new system. You’re just going through some teething issues. The more you use the os the better you’ll get at this.

iOS sucks in many ways. It is what it is (far from perfect). Everyone just deals with it or goes to Android, then back to iOS, then back to android etc.

But since Apple makes computers running MacOS, they will always gimp iOS so that it can never really replace a Mac. iOS will always have Fisher Price gui operating system.

Well, in all fairness, that might be a bit too strong of a critique. As someone who has only ever used a flip phone, I have certainly discovered a number of interesting and useful things that a smart phone can perform. I am also very impressed with the audio fidelity of the tiny little speakers contained in the iphone 7+. I guess there's always good and bad in any new technology.
