Weather complication (almost) always shows --º lately

If you’re a developer, when a bug report is marked as duplicate of another bug, you can see the status of the other bug.
How? I reported a bug that was marked as a duplicate, but I can only see the status of my bugs. Are you using a tool like Open Radar to look up the bug?

Just curious because I'd like to see the status of the bug that mine was a duplicate of.

It actually tells you how to view the other bug's status when yours gets marked as a duplicate of it: "The open or closed status of the original report your bug was duplicated to appears in a text box within the bug detail section of the bug reporter user interface."

i.e. in bugreport.apple.com, select your bug, then on the right detail section just under the bug title it will have a small purple text box showing the status of your bug, followed by "Duplicate of xxxxxxxx", followed by the status of the bug that yours is a duplicate of.

As it mentions, you can't view details other than the status, because the other report will probably contain private information from that person. However, you can politely request additional information about it once it's closed if there's something specific you want to know.

Got it. The bug mine was a duplicate of is still "open."

It was about the Infograph date complication not updating at Midnight, which I thought might be related to the weather complication not updating.

So I searched the Apple.com forums and found a fix. I turned on background app refresh on my phone for weather (the default program for iPhone) and restarted both devices. I haven’t had a problem since.

I found this walkthrough that seems to help:

  • On your iPhone, in the Watch app, go to: My Watch (tab) > Weather > Default City > choose Current Location (or a specific location from those that have been added to the Weather app on your iPhone, if preferred).

  • On your iPhone, go to: Settings > Privacy > Location Services:
    • Check that Location Services is enabled.
      • If the setting is already turned on, try turning it off, pausing for a few moments and then re-enabling it.
    • Check that Apple Watch Faces is set to While Using.
      • Toggling the setting to Never and back again may help.
    • Check that Weather is set to Always
      • Toggling the setting may help.
    • At the bottom, tap on System Services > check that Setting Time Zone is enabled (you may also wish to enable all other system services, if they are not presently enabled).

  • Check that Bluetooth and Wi-Fi are both enabled on your iPhone:
    • iPhone: Settings > Bluetooth - on.
    • iPhone: Settings > Wi-Fi - on.
    • For the best performance from your watch, keep both Bluetooth and Wi-Fi permanently enabled on your iPhone.

  • On your iPhone, go to: Settings > General > Background App Refresh:
    • Check that Background App Refresh is enabled.
    • It may also help to enable the setting for Weather.

  • On your iPhone, in the Watch app, go to: My Watch > Complications:
    • If you are currently using a third-party weather app (such as Yahoo Weather) for your watch face complications, try removing it (via Edit, upper-right) and using Apple's built-in Weather app instead.

I have not been wearing my S3 very much lately, but I just noticed the “- -“ today. The temp eventually shows up after a few seconds. Very odd.
