am i the only one for whom the weather complication is essentially useless on most watch faces? in the area of china I live, it's basically always hot. knowing if it's 30, 31 or 32 degrees outside is pretty much irrelevant to me, it's always going to feel hot! even at night... hot!

anyway, the point being, knowing the temperature is pretty irrelevant to me. even with time travel in OS 2, it won't make much difference to my life. knowing what the weather will be, on the other hand, would be pretty useful. anyone know why apple can't implement some weather icons as another complciation option - or any ideas on some third party apps that might do that in os2?

Wait until wOS 2 for third party complications to become available to developers. It'd be nice to get a "feels like" complication from apps such as Dark Sky.

It would be cool if Dark Sky offers a complication with icons for sun, clouds, rain, etc. that allow you to spin the crown for time machine and see whether or not it will be raining in a couple of hours. And yes... a "Feels like" complication would be more useful than actual temp.

does anyone know if developers can offer more than one complication in OS2? or are they limited to one per app (which would make it more likely they'd go for the safe "actual temperature" option)

If you put the weather complication in a long format field, it shows the weather conditions along with the temperature. Like "23C, partially cloudy"

which is fine until i want to display calendar/schedule information at the same time. on modular, both can only be on the big one in the middle :(

Maybe Apple needs to add a new watch face called "Complicated" - Just a list of long-form complications down the middle of the screen with the time and date in the corners :D

Hmmm... as ugly as that watch face would be, I'd probably use it from time to time.

That's almost what the Modular watch face is now - basically a place to show information from multiple sources graphically and textually. But I'd like to be able to customize it more by moving the pieces around as well as varying their size and color. Coupled with third party complications, that would be really handy. It also might be nice to have a different watch face show up on a wrist raise vs. a tap or even a force touch, all under the user's control.

I see the issue you have . Realistically the AW has limitations, and in this case I would suggest checking the iphone. Though with future updates this may be resolved for you . Hone great thing about the watch is that the software is improving

Yes...I was thinking the "Complicated" face would be like Modular, but with more textish long-form complications and tiny complications for time and date. Maybe even tiny fonts :)

utility is, basically, the only watch face i could configure to show both things (weather in long form and appointment in one of the two corners) but even that has limitations - i can see the time but no other information about the appointment... and i prefer the simple face!

i'll just have to wait for someone (even if it isn't apple) to come out with an icon based weather complication and, until then, check my iphone for it as you say. or, you know, look out the window.

Have you thought about glances? It means you have to swipe up on the face versus looking at it only but its an option. I have weather as a glace for the basic temperature. If I need to know more, I keep my more detailed weather glance as the first one I see when I swipe up. Appointments stay in the center of the modular face, temp in the corner then weather detail in a glance. Also, I assume you know you can click the temperature and see more detail.

I too have this problem; but the others have already stated the possible workarounds I could think of.

What I want to see is a weather-centric digital face. For example, if they took the Solar face, got rid of the "sun position" in the background, and replaced it with the current weather conditions, I would be happy.

Basically I want them to take the effects in the iPhone's stock weather app, and put them on the watch. Then when I turn my wrist to look at my watch, I could see a bright blue sky, snowflakes falling down, lightning bolts and rain, etc.

maybe that'll be an option come OS2... i found it too slow to be useful. at least a complication updates in the background (right?) - i always found that the glance would have old weather data :( and treating the weather complication like a shortcut feels like a waste of space. it feels faster to just ask siri "whats the weather like today?" and have the latest info pop up. but i would like to see it there, in front of me. icon based for conditions not temperature.

or this (although solar face = no complications)

Maybe, but I don't think the complications update until you look at the face. It tries to update quickly but I catch it sometimes changing after I look or not loaded at all. I'm thinking about weather in this statement. I just looked while typing this and 2 seconds after activating the face, the temp updated. My glances act the same way.

i guess it depends how often you care about the weather. i check my watch for the time regularly, say every 15-20 minutes. i might only care about the weather twice, 8 hours apart. if it's in a glance the info will be 8 hours old, if it's on the watch face then the complication should show me information thats only 20 minutes old at most?
