Weather on Dashboard, how?

I had weather on the dashboard once, somewhere in CA I think. I wanted local and have downloaded about fifty times but not into the dashboard even though that is where I start. What am I doing wrong?

Open DASHBOARD, click the PLUS icon in the lower left corner and drag the Weather icon (page 2) onto the DASHBOARD. Click the "i" icon on the widget to change the city.

I feel like such a 'tard.

I didn't know my iMac had a dashboard.

Also search for Weather Widget or Radar in Motion. There are many widgets for this.
