Weather widget not updating after iOS 14 update

The weather "widget" is not updating unless i go to the weather "app" manually , then after a few seconds the widget gets updated.
Do you need to have background app refresh on? I have had it off always and the weather widget used to update without any problems.

Yes, you need background refresh on. Turn it on, and reboot your phone. This fixed it for me.

Can I turn the "background app refresh" on only for the weather widget? I don't need any other app to refresh in the background.

Yes. Go to Settings —> General —> Background App Refresh —> Turn “weather” on.

Mine doesn’t update on the widget even with refresh on. Checked it this morning and still had me in a city 50 miles away. Had to go into the app to kick it back over.

The widget has never had the same temp as when I go into the app after a few hours so it’s kinda pointless for me atm.
