I bought a mac a couple months ago and have been using Safari as my main browser. However, it's driving me crazy because it will freeze up, will crash, and never loads msnbc.com without getting a bad domain error or something (msnbc.com works fine on everything else though..). So my friend referred me over to Firefox, and I was using it for about a day and all of a sudden, the side scroll bar isn't there... it's one big grey line, and I can't see anything. I was quite disappointed because I was just getting used to using Firefox, and now don't want to go back to Safari. It seems like I can't find a mac browser I am satisfied with! Does anyone know about this specific problem regarding Firefox? What is everyone else using for their browser, and what do you like / dislike?

Thanks! :)

OK, what have you done to your system?

Yeah it really sounds like your computer has some severe issues. Have you talked to anyone at AppleCare? Your computer should still be under warranty.

This problem could be as easy as reparing permissions, or as annoying as having to do a complete reinstall. When my current Mac started having some issues, I reinstalled the OS, and made sure not to use programs I thought might cause problems (ShapeShifter, bittorrent, etc). I now have ZERO problems and it has been a few months The difference is amazing! I only reboot for software updates now. :-D SO HAPPY.

So anyway don't despair, maybe you could bring it into an Apple store and have them take a look at it?

aww great... i was kinda hoping to hear someone was having the same problem i was... i seem to be cursed w/ computers i guess.. i haven't done anything with it really, just the occasioanl email, web surfing, etc. i thought maybe buying a mac would help alleviate my computer probs but since this is just a minor one, i will take it into the store!

thanks guys

I'm having the same problem on an older Macbook Air. Last week, I replaced the logic board and SSD, doubling the size of the drive. I'm still having the problem. Videos play well---It's just a scrolling issue in Safari and Firefox. It doesn't happen immediately. The longer I'm on a page, though, the more scrolling problems I have.

Why would you resurrect a thread from such an unbelievably long slumber?? Just make a new one!
