Hi all,

So normally I use Safari on my Mac and iOS devices. However a specific website requires cross website tracking information for me collect correct amount of Air miles. So if I go a shopping site through this website, I should get Air Miles. Obviously Safari has a very strong anti cross site tracking.
So I’d like to install a browser, specifically for this site which does all the cross site tracking. However I don’t want this browser to reach other information on my computer or track something else on Safari (I don’t know if that is even possible). I know in iOS, due to sandboxing, reaching other information is not possible but how about macOS? If I install like Chrome, will it track my other activities on Safari let’s say.

I assume by air miles, you literally mean as used by an airline?

In that case, I'd write a strongly worded letter to them, and highlight the privacy implications of tracking links across websites. If they are legit, they should be able to figure out a better way to track your purchases without you needing to compromise your privacy to do so.

The simplest technical method I can think of is to use query strings. They will work anywhere.

To answer your question however, you can do it on a per-site basis within Safari: https://discussions.apple.com/thread/251235203

Basically, there is a website Avios.com
If you login there with your British Airways club number and choose any retailer from there, all your shopping from those retailers are tracked back and you earn Avios (air mile) with a multiplier. I’ve earned significant amount of miles from there but half of the time, the system does not track my purchase and I end up fighting with Customer Support. I want to avoid this 🙂
