It's a relief to find this thread and see that others are experiencing the same issues. I hope there will be an update for this as it's driving me a bit insane, i'd rather have a view where you can see the image as it would be in a web browser, rather than a tiny 100% or a blurred 200%.
Unless i've missed something in the 2 months since this last thread?
I do both web design and app design in photoshop on my retina MBP. At first it was annoying, but then I changed my shortcuts in Photoshop to the following:
CMD + 1 = zoom to 200% for 2:1 non-retina web design, everything else
CMD + SHIFT + 1 = zoom to 100% for 1:1 retina app design
and now I love it. I've gotten used to the aliasing from the retina screen when at 200%, and it doesn't bother me anymore.
I'm considering selling my base model Early 2011 13" Macbook Pro to upgrade to the 15" retina when the new Haswell models are released next month but after seeing this thread I've started to wonder if this is the right choice. The only real solution I can see would be to do the comp at 144 ppi. Can anyone tell me if there would be any problems doing this? At this point I feel like most UI elements can be done with CSS3 and glyphs so I rarely find myself splicing out UI elements from a Photoshop comp now. Am I wrong to think this?
Just gone Retina and it looks like I'm going to have these same issues. A few tests in Photoshop didn't go so well... it's gonna be a lot of getting used to.

I think I've got it... I should set the resolution to 1400x900 non-hidpi when Photoshop runs? I assume this makes 4 pixels act like 1 pixel to give a non-retina look?
