I just wondered what internet connection you Web Developers have?

I currently have about about 7/8Mb/s download and manage fine with building sites, uploading downloading etc.

I might be moving to an area which only really has 1.5/2.5Mb/s download.

Is that usable for my job would you folk say and i'd only really notice the difference in downloading films from iTunes etc?

But general uploading and downloading site files whilst building wouldn't be too bad?

Any other Web Developers have a regular 1.5/2.5Mb/s speed?

meh you should be fine. Things would upload/download a lot slower so if you do any javascript debugging waiting for a page to load might be frustrating.

It's really a matter of opinion though, saying I could work on those speeds doesn't necessarily mean you could. Those speeds are around, if not slightly slower than typical AT&T 3G speeds.

I've done basic PHP dev on dialup when necessary...it's not a dream but it's functional. Image heavy sites or anything with flash or video content would have been a problem, though.

Thanks for your opinion guys, much appreciated.

I just build HTML sites really and PHP.

The largest thing i have to download or upload would be whole site files, will just take that bit long i suppose.

Not the end of the world.

I think it's not a big problem if you have 1.5/2.5Mb/s download);)
