i'm interested in having a website where i would have a bunch of random stuff and maybe a forum. (just for fun, nothing really involved or anything) but i don't know much about hosting and domains and stuff. i looked at a small orange, who i've seen recommended here and their $30/year plan looks great but i dont know if 75mb storage and 3gb bandwidth is enough. (i really dont know how much i'm going to need) and it says you have to renew your domain every year. i thought you bought a domain? 😕 any advice appreciated with regard to recommendations, etc.
thanks,
alex

Domains must be renewed every year unless you buy multiyear plans, however it doesn't have to cost much. One of the better options I've seen is GoDaddy where a domain name is less than $10 a year. As for webhosting, I've heard good things about Small Orange and DreamHost.

ASO can get you a domain for 10 dollars a year and Domain Site can get you a domain for 8 dollars a year. GoDaddy is a piece of garbage...
