Finally got round to trying the web proxy written and hosted by the developer responsible for the Delight firmware upgrades for old Nokia Symbian phones.
Access isn't free - to be issued login credentials you need to donate something to the project (you choose how much) but after contributing, I recieved a username and password within the hour via email.

Whilst designed for the previously mentioned Nokias it also gives life to any browser that can't negotiate modern web security protocols - I tried it on my Nokia E72, E75 and Classilla on my 500Mhz G3 iMac - and both Nokias outpaced the iMac ;)

Hi Dronecatcher,

I am actually typing this on my PB G4 1.67 and no issues at all. I also downloaded everything you told me and all is working great. Now just need to test this all with the G5 quad. Does this app above allow a try me before donating - if it does what I need, then my OS 9 worries are over. I have a feeling if it can do Wikipedia it can do other TLS sites. I will try it. Sorry about a few nites ago - I was really stressed and depressed. I am a little more stable this evening.

Glad to hear that - none of these problems last forever, at worst you recalibrate to cope.

No, it's not a 100% solution - it's not like having a brand new, working browser - some sites it will refuse to connect to but if anything it's proof the proxies do work in general and if you were inclined you could set up your own, specifally designed for Classilla.

As said, it's primarily designed for old Nokias and results on mine were much faster than my iMac - having said that, Opera still works on them too.

If you want to try it just donate a few dollars?

Has anyone else tried this yet? Hard to believe that only a few days ago there was a lot of screaming and shouting on here for an OS9 web proxy....

I’ll be donating and trying it out soon. I’ve been called back to work so time is a bit short right now. I’m very curious as to how it performs...

Everyday things, light internet browsing - those websites that work almost 100%, word processing and light editing of old stuff.
