Just got an MBA M2 and am looking for a webcam cover. Found a thread from ~8 months ago on the same subject but at that time, no one had any solutions. I also remember reading about issues that Apple warned users about relating to the thickness of covers and possible damage so I'm aware of that concern. Apple says they need to be 0.1mm or thinner but nothing I've seen so far is anywhere close. Found one on Amazon that's the full width of the screen but I have a full cover and they might interfere with each other. There are a number that are magnetic and would be easy to remove but it would be too easy to forget (and damage the screen).

Has anyone found covers that work ? And with all due respect, I'm not asking for opinions on covering it, not covering it, or why to cover it.

Thanks !

I've been using Micro Snitch, a webcam and mic utility that helps ensure my Mac only transmits A/V when I want it to, for several years with no problems (as well as another security utility from the same developer, Little Snitch, for even longer).

My understanding is since 2017, with the introduction of the T2 chip, Apple's made it so it is not possible to activate the camera remotely. Not sure how they did, but I do remember it as being on the features of the T2 they talked about. I guess I'm saying there is no need for a web camera cover on a modern Mac--you're the only one who can turn it on.

I use a small piece of yellow sticky note for the last two years without issue. It's free, abundant and thin enough to not cause any issue.
