I have an aluminum iMac, but I'd like to buy a webcam that isn't fixed like the one built into the IMac. Do any of you have a model that you can recommend?

There are actually quite a few options for you depending on how much you want to spend. Virtually any webcam that states Vista compatibility will work perfectly on the Mac.

    - if you have a video camera you could use this with the data cable attached.
    - the XBOX Live camera is cheap and works great.
    - Macally's IceCam2 is nice.
    - Microsoft has a new LifeCam Show that actually kind of cool looking (IMO) and it comes with a few different mounting options.

Will there be any conflict hooking up a webcam to my IMac as it has the built in cam?

Not at all, you will only have to enter the Preference Pane and change the source from where to get visuals.
