Webcam problem

Previously working webcam in Yahoo Messenger has decided to balk - does not display to me and only very faintly to the other party. Any ideas, anybody?? Thanks heaps

What sort of machine do you have? What sort of webcam? Can we assume it's a built-in iSight on one of the new MacBook or MacBook Pros? 🙂

Yes - built-in iSight on a new MacBook.

Well, have you tried restarting? Maybe create a new user account in System Preferences and see if the problem continues there. That'll help determine whether it's a problem with something in your Home folder or not. 🙂

If nothing else works, reset the SMC "System Management Controller". However, if this issue is only occurring in one program, but the iSight works in others - I'd reinstall the application causing the problem. It your iSight is failing in all programs, try this: http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=303319

I did this for the dreaded iSight cam "green screen issue" and it worked like a charm.
