Webkit and annimated gifs

Are they ever going to fix this bug?

Safari and Chrome both choke on these gifs, while Firefox handles them fine.

What is the deal?

They're large files, so it's probably taking some time to download them. They work fine for me on Safari 4.0.5.

Well, Safari and Chrome will load them but try scrolling down or up through them. They choke like dogs.

Hasn't webkit known about this bug for a long time?
