It's hard to infer whether the yellow tinge problem has been resolved by Apple, but I thought I'd pass along a good experience with a week 08 machine I received on Saturday.

I had a week 46 27" iMac, and it had the yellow tinge issue, as well as a problem scratching DVDs and flickering. Apple replaced the display on that machine twice. The second display had no yellow tint, but a grey bar across the bottom. Ditto for the third. Apple finally opted to send me a new machine, which is the week 08 machine discussed below.

When the iMac is first turned on the display is very yellow across the entire screen - the worst that I have seen. After several seconds something happens and the yellow screen is replaced by a neutral grey screen that is really excellent. It stays that way until the machine is powered down. I'd guess that the color change happens because the screen calibration is changed, but there is no way for me to confirm that. It could be some tweak that happens in hardware during boot.

The good news (for me at least) is that the machine in normal use has a screen that is close to perfect, even though it is initially yellow at start-up.

A difference in this machine from others that I have seen is that the yellow tinge at start-up extends across the entire screen. In my first iMac the yellow tint was only on the bottom 1/3 of the screen.

Maybe Apple's answer to the yellow screen issue is to tweak the manufacturing process in a way that results in an even tint across the entire panel, and to then calibrate for it.

    Screen panel data is:

    Manufacturer: 610
    Model: 9CB5
    Serial number: 0
    Manufacture Date: C67ADBF5

Yea, You say it's perfect but did you perform the Grey Bar Test? It's very strange that your entire screen is Yellow at Start Up & then Yellow completely goes away. I'd be running the Grey Bar Test.

May I know how to check the screen panel data?

I just returned my Week 8 yellow 27 inch WITH Gray Banding (two on the right side of the screen - see gray banding thread for pics)
Hopefully Will have my new machine by Friday, but most probably I'll have to wait until next week.

No grey bars of any kind, or other illumination gradients. That's the first thing I checked.

I ran the grey bar test, and it didn't show any discoloration.

    I am confused here...

The yellow tint issue is more a gradation issue, where the screen shifts it's color temperature from cold to warm (hence yellowish) from top to bottom or left to right, or some have blobs of this warming...

If the entire screen is yellow, it's probably the background used is slightly yellow.

If you do not have any shifting/changing of the color temperature your screen is fine and I would use it and quit reading this forum...

I was shown a week 8 yesterday as I returned my 5th iMac and it was 99% perfect, but the left hand side was yellow and there was something on the bottom... it almost looked like burn in. I guess this was the gray bar issue...

I had a great talk with an apple employee who was a profession photog on the side and his first i5 had this issue, so he was fully aware of it and got the manager to help me out... In the end I opted for a refund and will sit it out for a bit more until all reports cease.
