Hello,

Last night I got a week 40 iPod touch after my week 39 iPod touch showed signs of the negative black issue.

With my week 40 iPod touch, I'm getting the same issue and am starting to think that iPod touch screens are inherently worse than iPhone screens.

Is it correct to think this way or should I continue exchanging iPod touches until I get a good one?

There's no hardware problem, just update the software(and it will fix the problem - it will not be PERFECT, but just as "perfect" as the iphone screen) (from macworld.com)

i really feel that the touches screen is inherently inferior to the iphone's....from what i heard, the new iphones now have worse screens compared to their predecessors. i guess it may be a software issue, but i dont think its that bad...may just be a gamma issue anyways

?? what, I know 3 people who got iphone, one have had it for 2-3 month's now and the other guys just bought it, when we compared the iphones there was no difference at all :S ... maybe some bad batches?...

For the most part, the screen looks brilliant. Just as good as an iPhone. But when you go to appleservedup.com and look at the Jay-Z black album, the problem presents itself in a big way.

I would also recommend watching the beowolf trailer on your iPod Touch to get a sense of the issues with the screen. It's only darker images and video that appear kind of not so great. :(

Yeah everything else looks nice, but darker images, not so much. This is a big issue to me because I can't get a straight answer on whether or not the screen is inherently worse than the iPhone's screen. If it were, I think I could accept it, but even the people at the Apple store can't give me a 100% sure answer.

At the Apple Store, the 3 touches were week 37 and all had a really nice screen. The iPhones were week 32 and those had nice screens as well.

Though, I doubt Apple would put one with a crappy screen out on display...

I was in the London Regent's Street store a few weeks ago and there was indeed one on display with these issues as I was using it. They had a Coldplay video loaded onto them with some dark scenes and it was horrendous to watch.
