    Hey everyone.

I was extremely excited about having ordered an iMac 27" / i7, and so I decided to check out the iMac section here, to find out just how happy people were with it...

I ended up sitting hours here reading about the horrific problems people have been experiencing... Yellow displays, flickering, cracked screens...

That's when I started getting relieved when I realized my order date was late enough so that there would be a far lower chance I would receive a bad system. I then learned about the whole "week ##" theories, and realized my order had a corresponding "week 41" reference.

The thing is, I know that week 41 machines are less prone to the above failures, but just the fact that they may still occur worries me, especially considering my order was placed fairly recently.

    Order Number: W6741XXXX
    Sales Ref Number: XXXXXXXXXX
Order Date: Dec 22, 2009 at 08:01 PM PST

Has anyone else been receiving older week revisions for such late order dates?

As a question for people with more experience with online orders (this would be my first time ordering a computer online, but I just had to have the i7) do I have any reason to be worried?

Thanks in advance for the help!

Or does it go by the last 4 digits? Not the first 4 after the W?

I am certain that you guys are talking ORDER numbers not computer SERIAL numbers.

It is confusing because they both start with a W.

You wont know your serial number until the machine turns up, you click :apple: -> About This Mac -> More Info...

There will on the System Profiler window shown an item called Serial Number.

No, it makes that your web order number.

As per my previous post, THAT IS NOT THE SERIAL NUMBER.

When your machine turns up, then you can check the serial number and that will tell you your week ID.

(I placed an order for an iMac on the 24th, the order number covers the mini-display port adaptor, apple care AND the iMac. I will not be able to see what week the iMac is UNTIL it arrives.)

It is really important to note that all the "week calculations" are based upon the SERIAL number of the computer, not the order number.
