I'm sure that folks won't mind me having a multiple topic contest for this week but I really wanted to do something that shows support for our French brothers and sisters in light of the terrible events of the past 24 hours. With that in mind please feel free to interpret this contest as you see fit within the bounds of the tricolore subjects.

    Rules:
    Be creative and have fun.
You may only submit one photo per contest.
Please do not comment on photos until after the judging has taken place.
The contest runs for exactly one week, starting NOW! (see time/date stamp at the start of this thread.)
At the end of the week, The Judge (last week's Winner) will choose a 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place photo, providing as much feedback as possible.
The 1st place Winner will start a new thread with the topic/theme of their choice, and act as the Judge for that contest. (Winner has 48 hours to create new theme, after that it defers to 2nd place).

Great idea for a competition title. Bravo.

Still not entirely happy with it, but it's better than it was... Paris, Las Vegas.

    Can you clarify this?
So you are looking for a blue/white/red tricolor? I just wanted to make sure as that just kind of snuck up at the end of the description.

    Thanks!

I will accept anything that you feel fits the brief. My tricolore comment was kind of related to the fact that it is a three subject title but red white and blue would work perfectly too.

I know this is not a very good entry, but I have to post something.

From the archives I'm afraid. Hotel Negresco, Nice, France.

OK guys and gals let's wrap this up and get on to the next one. Some wonderful entries this week and it was really tough to choose a winner from two in particular. I may have to flip a coin on this one.

Anotherscotsman - Great angle of a very iconic landmark.

Alliflowers - I've no idea what that statue is so i'm probably showing my ignorance here. Looks like it was taken with a spy camera or something. Something very odd going on there.

NeGrit0 - Nice B&W treatment of fake Paris there.

E3BK - That my friend, is a superb sunset shot!

Kenoh - That looks almost abstract in nature. Nice shot of a wonderful tribute of solidarity.

Indydenny - I'm not a fan of this kind of treatment at all but the composition and framing is lovely.

filmbufs - Again, nice composition and the lighting looks like is was epic. I would have knocked the exposure down a stop or two in camera if it were me to get it looking a bit more atmospheric.

highdefjunkie - You appear to have burst into these forums of late with some truly spectacular shots. This one is no exception. Stunning, just stunning.

Ish - From the archives but it appears to sum up the recent tributes with the tricolore on the building.

AFB - You get points deducted for being inappropriate. It's a good shot but kind of the opposite of the mood I was trying to capture. You provocative monkey you!

I've got this far down and realised that Laird Knox hasn't submitted an entry and as he did ask for clarification on the rules of the brief and we all know that he swoops in at the last minute and submits a show stealer, i'm going to wait a few more hours to see if he submits anything.

    I'm such a tease :)

No offence intended. Given a lack of anything else that fitted the post, went with the support we should show France by joining their bombing raids.

Allow me to explain. In the Louvre museum in Paris is a sculpture called Captives. The show the various stages of captivity: revolt, hope, resignation, and defeat. The face in the photo I submitted is that of revolt.

Thanks for your feedback, MacRy. I was just lucky to get a stealth shot, as you're not supposed to take pictures inside Sacre Coeuer. It was so beautiful, I couldn't resist.

Thanks for the explanation. It works well in this context.

A late entry there from Kecklund. Thanks for that. Nice shot.

Looks like there will be no last gasp effort from Laird so here are the winners.

    3rd Anotherscotsman
    2nd E3BK
1st highdefjunkie - I love this image. Really moody ands atmospheric.

    Over to you HDJ.

Must say that I love @filmbufs superb shot inside Sacre Coeur, (the stupid auto spell is trying to turn that into 'scare'). Kudos, too, to @kecklund's nicely taken shot - it could only have been taken in Paris - and to @E3BK's Seine sunset, complete with a shadowed bateau mouches making its way under the arch of a bridge. What are the buildings on the left? Hotel de Ville?

Well, done, @MacRy for hosting such a fitting topic, and warm congratulations to the worthy winners.

Cheers MacRy and thanks for comments. Congratulations to HDJ and everyone else who participated - great winning photo . For what it's worth, I also really liked Keklund's last-minute entry.
