Some really cool photos and it was very difficult to judge!!

Here we go then, please note I'm just giving my honest opinion!!

@keleko

I love the picture, but why the effect?

The effect was the only way to save an otherwise too blurry picture. When I took it the shutter speed was too low and noise was too high for it to be sharp. So I went for heavy on the processing and effect to be able to make the picture still usable. I kept the essence of the picture intact. In fact, if the picture had been sharp and properly exposed (the windows were totally white originally) it might have still been better with the effect applied.

I didn't say anything when posting it because I wanted you to judge it by the picture itself.

Okay so

1. genshi.......... WINNER!!

Great job, guys!

Congrats!

Congratulations to genshi, toddbphoto, epb87, and everyone who entered this contest. Some really cool picts ... and some great looking children and grandchildren!

I now know that a great photo is one that is out of focus and tells no story.

@rebby

Nice shot of a cute kid! It looks a little posed though.

Actually not. Which is why I picked this one in the first place. Hunter was riding his bike up the driveway and my wife grabbed this pic quick. Still one of my favorites of him.

Congratulations to genshi - cool shot. I look forward to the next contest

I also loved Mattsepeta's photo for its colouring and dreamy style.

Not wishing to argue because its a nice shot but Hunter is looking at the camera - not exactly candid, not exactly posed either but he does seem aware of the camera.

And on a side note - you didn't take the photo. I realise that there is no rule against this (I helped write the rules) but it seems fair to expect that you would enter shots that you actually took, so you can improve from the feedback given.

Thank you Joe! I am actually surprised that I won! There were some really great shots here and I didn't think I had a chance!

Thank you again for the kind words, it is greatly appreciated! And great job to everyone! The new contest is coming up shortly (if my internet connection behaves!)

Rectified this tonight, by having Kebab meat and chips. Chilli sauce had a nice sweet side to it as well.

Haha!

If you're referring to the winner, then I do think that photo was telling a story. It holds my interest.
I'm not sure it was out of focus either! Anyway there are a different set of priorities for candid photography.
