Weekly photo Contest (3rd - 10th November 2008)

Loretto, Baja California Sur
I was walking back to the place I was staying near Loretto, saw these two boats and it just caught my eye. Only problem is... this is the only single shot I could get before my batteries in the A95 died... There were a few compositional/exposure possibilities I would have love to have played around with in that late afternoon sunlight... but alas, it wasn't to be...

OK its now 7 days since i first posted, so time's up!
There were some really good conceptual photos this week, and it was certainly worth seeing what people could come up with - I particularly liked use of partial reflections through windows. This week's commendations go to
Fuzzy14 for the baby & mirror - excellent composition & capture of the baby's expression
osin for the Fall Reflections - the colours are wonderful & I love the slow exposure to blur the stream
equinoxx for the model quarry - this photo really did make me do a double take
and apearlman for Better Than One - still trying to work out if its a Photoshop job or twins
This week's winner, with a great 'double take' is mattw126 with "Ceux-là ne sont pas des étoiles". Look up the translation if your french isn't so hot - it'll explain more about the photo. In any case, the colours, composition & concept come together to make a fantastic photo, so well done mattw126!

equinoxx, can you confirm that was a model and not a real quarry and what lens you used, I'm still trying to work it out!

I really liked the theme andrew050703 & the resulting images - some really creative work! The theme I've chosen (& about to post) will be similarly open to interpretation.
& equinoxx, I have an idea how you created your image, but I think we would all love to have the details.

I see no reason why the new contest can't start today, so fire away, mattw126...and congrats! It is indeed a great photo, and I enjoyed the title's nod to Magritte.

That's what I figured. There seems to be a great deal of interest in this effect, so I'm going to post a thread about it.
