Weekly Photo Contest | August 1 - August 8, 2026 | Altitude

This week, let”s have some altitude - Don't be shy and post it, this is a contest for you and whatever the theme means to you.

• The photographs must be your own work. No AI generated images.
• You may only submit one photo per contest.
• No commenting or liking photos until after the judging has taken place.
• This contest runs for about a week, starting now.
• At the end of the competition, the judge (last week's winner) will choose a 1st, 2nd and 3rd place photo, providing as much feedback as possible.
• The 1st place winner will start a new thread here with the topic/theme of their choice, and act as the judge for that contest. (Winner has 48 hours to create new theme, after that it defers to 2nd place).
• Be sure to update the Contest Master List as soon as you post a new theme.

Contest will end August 8thth 2026 at 23:59:59 Central European Summer Time.

Thanks everyone for the submissions and a varied interpretation on the brief - I did say whatever it means to you and we got that.

cjsuk: Attitude over altitude, and I like it - almost a car mod philosophy!​

goldmac2006: Doesn't get higher than the stars.​

mtbdudex: An image I could look at for hours.​

lookn4wifi: Like it, though the (presumably) bridge shadow distract a little for me.​

_timo_redux: Photos from a plane - always have a camera to hand and Norway is a favourite of mine too.​

Janichsan: love it - no doubting the altitude and like the darkensss above.​

someoldguy: Was it a walk/hike with the reward? always worth it for me!​

Kottu: Like the monochrome though the horizon level needs addressing.​

To the podium then:
1. mtbdudex: I would happily lose myself for a while in this view
2: _timo_redux: Volcanoes and Norway = happy place - again would lose myself in the external view
3.cjsuk: There is just something calling to me about the attitude of the subject!

That’s Mount Rainier peaking above the clouds, used my iPhone 17 pro, as we descended at dawn, via red eye flight to Seattle airport from our just finished 11 day Hawaii vacation.

Cadillac Mountain , Acadia National Park ..... Nope , no hike , though I walked around for more time than I thought I would . At 75 , with bad knees , there's no way I'm hiking up hill any distance. My reward was a timed ticket to drive up .
