Wow, thanks for the kind words everyone. Birds (or anything winged for that matter) is not an easy subject to capture. They are constantly moving and trying to capture them in a certain pose or doing something interesting is a test of patience and a challenge. When people see these pictures, I don't think they realize the amount of time that goes into it.

I have to say there are some really amazing shots in this thread. I really like AlexH and Cheese&Apple's shots in particular. Amazing colors in AlexH's and the light is perfect in Cheese&Apple's.

Thanks to Photoshopper for doing the judging!

I'd never seen or heard of them before this. They sort of look like the dragonfly nymphs from our pond.

The Weta is our insect equivalent to our Tuatara. They would be happy along side of dinosaurs.

KGB:eek:

Dear God in Heaven, thanks for explaining that to me. That was the ugliest bug I'd ever seen in my life!

(I still feel bad some pics weren't in the top three...)

We can't all be winners. Additionally, this sort of competition is the kind of thing that helps some strive to keep improving.

Great photos everyone! Congratulations to the winners! Glad to be apart of this competition! Additionally, thank you Photoshopper for CC. Will keep it in mind when I get it printed out! :)
