Cold.

Not a patch on the opening entry but took a shot of the roof tiles out of our attic room today.

Haven't had a chance to do much shooting recently so had to dig in the archives from the beginning of my photographic journey.

You two crack me up! Haven't been out in ages then put out pro shots like that!

Sorry for breaking silence but we are past deadline...

Yes, I noticed that, too.

While I'lll refrain from making any observations or remarks on individual shots unless the contest is closed and judging has taken place, I will say that quite a few of the shots submitted elicited a satisfying reaction akin to a shiver when viewed - which I think I can say is sort of the point of the exercise.

Chuck Rodent - Nice start to the thread. Yep, lots of frozen stuff in Canada although it was relativity warm here in Ontario this week. Love the detail in the ice along with the flowing water.

kenoh - Nice abstract but I think the B&W treatment takes the cold away.

Hughmac - I’d like to see this one in colour as well.

Indydenny - I’m a sucker for sunset/sunrise shots. Nice mix of colours

HantaYo - Nice still shot with great reflections.

Elbert C - Another great abstract shot. This one works well in B&W.

jjk454ss - Nice composition. I wonder what’s around the bend

acearchie - Awesome. I love the detail. How did you manage to get the shell in focus?

Miltz - Brrr….

thebro20 - I like the idea but would have like to have seen a different angle, maybe with more of the ballon in the frame.

Robotti - Cool Shot. As a frequent flyer, I’ve taken my share of photos out of airplane windows.

oblomow - I get shivers just looking at this...

MacRy - Great lighting.

Apple fanboy - Neat icicles.

Winners:

3rd: Miltz
2nd: oblomow
1st: Chuck Rodent

Lol. Thanks mate. Mine was from a couple of years ago when I first started to try and learn how to take photographs properly with a little Panasonic GF1.

Yes, those three pictures in particular prompted thoughts of shivering - they made you feel cold just looking at them, which I thought was the brief - and, above all, made me more than grateful for heat, light, fires, and cosy indoor warmth.

Some great shots. Well done.

Thanks very much. Took mine yesterday, which was the first time I've been out for weeks. Not really had any snow or propper winter here yet.

Too kind.

Well done everybody. As soon as I saw Chuck's shot, I knew it would take something special to beat it.

Wonderful shot CR, a well deserved win. Well done Ace for the creative interpretation! Well done everyone else too, some nice pictures in there.

AFB: Did you get any snow last weekend at the end of December? We were travelling north on the M1 and it was really scenic. Only problem was there was no chance to get out and take photos! Then after another scenic ride back we arrived with no snow at all at home. Perfect!! :)
