This is somewhat related to last week's theme. For this week, I'd like you to shoot an unrecognizable object and make the most elegant picture of it. Maybe something related to your work, hobby, family or your life in general. It can also be a common everyday object if you can shoot it in an unusual way. I want you to make us all wonder, what the heck is this thing?

The rules are as usual:

· The photographs must be your own work.

· Be creative and have fun.

· You may only submit one photo per contest.

· Please do not comment on photos until after the judging has taken place.

· The contest runs for a week and starts now!

· At the end of the week, The Judge (last week's Winner) will choose a 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place photo, providing as much feedback as possible.

· If the Judge is unable to complete the selection within 48 hours of the deadline for close, then a vote will be carried out to select a winner. This will be based on the number of "likes" each image has. In the event of a draw, the second place winner from the previous week will choose the tiebreaker.

· The 1st place Winner will start a new thread with the topic/theme of their choice, and act as the Judge for that contest. (Winner has 48 hours to create new theme, after that it defers to 2nd place).

· Please update the Weekly Contest Master List when you post a new contest

Sorry for being late and quick, I'm a bit busy and stressed with the Olympics... Great photos everyone, I like them all! But I'm going to have to just announce the podium places this week.

Congrats all, I'll be more through if I get a chance again!

Wow! Thank you. Did not expect this, so many fantastic shots this week. Mine was an opportunistic shot of the shadow pattern from a light on the roof top area in my hotel this week. Here are two more shots to give more context for those interested.

I completely missed @kenoh s image orientation, I thought it was a light fixing on an old 60's compressed wood ceiling tile ceiling! No way I pictured it as being on the ground!

I still have no idea what @deep diver s image is, I know it's metal and rusted, but that's about it!

Mine is a water-spill from a fountain, it's not glass.

Looking forward to the next round.

I guess we all nailed the theme. Great images, as always. I also thought Ken's was some sort of construction material. Mine is a large piece of native copper that is in Chicago's Field Museum.

Congrats Ken. Can't wait for the next one.
