While North America has been under snow and ice, over here in the UK we have been savaged by at least 42 days of rain and wind. We islanders essentially get the "after-party" of whatever is happening over the Atlantic! 🤣

With this positively diluvial rain, my world has turned into a million shades of slate and charcoal. I’m craving a visual jolt... colour please!

The Theme: Vibrant Colour
This week (and it's no surprise if you have seen my pics here on MR), I want you to show me Vibrant Colour. I’m not looking for muted tones, subtle pastels, or "moody" desaturation.

Give us the full-strength power of the spectrum!
Bold, punchy compositions… creative use of rain/liquids to enhance that saturation. Anything genuinely colourful.

Don't hold back: From urban neon and wet, saturated streetscapes to bold macro shots and bright interiors.

Let's see this thread aglow with colour!

As always, the standard rules apply:
  • The photographs must be your own work. No AI generated images.
  • You may only submit one photo per contest.
  • No commenting or liking photos until after the judging has taken place.
  • This contest runs for about a week, starting now.
  • At the end of the competition, the judge (last week's winner) will choose a 1st, 2nd and 3rd place photo, providing as much feedback as possible.
  • The 1st place winner will start a new thread here with the topic/theme of their choice, and act as the judge for that contest. (Winner has 48 hours to create new theme, after that it defers to 2nd place).
  • Be sure to update the Contest Master List as soon as you post a new theme.
  • Contest will end Thursday, Feb 19th at 12:00 PM GMT.

PS:
Did I mention… Colour/Color/Couleur/Farbe/Kleur? 😃

Might as well start this off ; this way I won't forget to enter like last week ..

Phew!

Feels like I need a shot from one of @cjsuk 's bottles after this! 🤣

Thank you everyone who showed up. It's great to see the Weekly Photo Contest gaining traction again after a slow period.
The warm and saturated colours have really helped with my winter blues greys… In fact as I write this it is 0°C outside with feels like temperature —6°C.
Oh and yes, since you asked, it is raining again. 😳

As always, I am no professional — neither a pro photographer or a pro judge. I just go with my ever increasing gut's instinct.

@someoldguy
First in and bringing me a nice blast of California colour and sunshine… An intense, saturated entry that set a very high bar for "full-strength" colour right from the start.

@iPhone-Guy
A wonderfully clean and clear image… just lacking a little of that saturated goodness I was craving.

@Snowlover
While really vibrant the colours still feel very organic and refreshing. Like a glass of freshly squeezed OJ first thing.

@cjsuk
Ha! I love it! Not sure if it is the contents of the bottles or the colours that make me like it even more. 🤣

@C0ncreteBl0nde
As always, delivering the goods. A stunning shot — and I appreciate your nod to the "After the rain" reminding me that it will have to stop one day.

@kendallm
Tricolore a Venezia!
One of my favourite places… and an excellent image. I always appreciate inky deep shadows — and the Red & Green play well against the dark urban environment.

@thirsty_monk
Another great image.
The pink roses work well with the reds and pinks of the little bike.
It also leads our eyes off the bike and beyond the frame.

@Fravin
Oh, oh oh… this is just lovely. Beautifully clean and by stripping away the distractions it focuses us on the colours. As I read in a book once, I'm going to go with: "A very confident use of the frame."

@goldmac2006
Big balls of Fire! err… flowers! 😆 I am usually not a big fan of HDR, but… I think you've justified it here.

@Apple_Glen_UK
When I first opened this I thought I saw an abstract stained glass window. This is very cleverly done — a nice riff on the pebbles at the beach… The St George's flag makes me think it is definitely English seaside. (Yes we do have sun!)

@Janichsan
Is that an Agemaki knot? 👍
Smooooth!
The kind of colour combo that I would hesitate to work with — and yet it just works. I love the timing as well.

@BrightQuest22
A punchy composition that delivers exactly the full-strength colour power I wanted.
It’s the perfect antidote to a grey day.

I think I covered everyone? My maths are… dodgy at best.

So the podium:

3rd
@cjsuk

I really liked this tongue in cheek image.

2nd
@someoldguy

For the blast of sun.

1st
@Fravin

Because sometimes, being lovely and beautiful is its own justification. 🏆

Special mention:
@C0ncreteBl0nde
Special shout-out for being the perfect "after the rain" moment.

Congratulations to @Fravin! We're in safe hands for the next contest!

I'm so glad my picture could warm up your heart 😍

I love when someone feedback me with so lovely words. Thank you very much.

I'm not sure how to open a new contest. Could you give me any help?
No problem!
I have sent you a Direct Message so we can help you set up the thread for your competition…
👍

That’s not a HDR photo, it just has the warm photographic style on it, taken on my iPhone 15 Pro.

Really nice flowers balls. These are real flowers that you only get to see lots of them in the wynn Las Vegas
