Ardmanz: Such a cool shot to me. Has me wondering what exactly the sign is there for. Is it a name, a town, an area of the forest?

Thanks for your kind words. :)

I was at a lake camping and went for a wonder and saw this sign. At first I thought it designated a camping site but none of the other sites had signs so it was a bit of a mystery to me too!

Great group of photos and I'm really jealous of your shot Parkin Pig. Did you climb or where you on a trek?

There were 15 of us on a trek. It was the end of the climbing season so base camp was pretty deserted (you have to settle there for a while to acclimatise before you attempt to climb). A few of us wanted to try Middle Camp and Advance Base Camp but there was one solitary Chinese soldier on guard and he was having a complete meltdown trying to keep his eye on all of us. He didn't even want us going near the Mallory/Irvine memorial, waving his gun around in a pretty scary manner. It had been a gruelling two week trek so we weren't going to miss the memorial. I managed to get a few snaps in before he started to look hysterical enough that he might actually pull the trigger. Our guide told us there had been a few people writing 'Free Tibet' in various places around Base Camp so they were completely paranoid about letting anyone walk around unsupervised.
Protests are all well and good, but whoever did it needs to realise that free speech isn't such a clever idea in politically sensitive areas of Chinese occupation, and the only changes they'll make to the system is that everything becomes more difficult for the rest of us.

This is a very cool shot Jeff...well done!

this would have been my winner should I have been judging

Well done Mr Knox

Really nice!

Wow thank you! Really, it was Nothing. ;)

There are some awesome boulders and saguaros along the highway that I went to photograph. I drove out there but by the time I finished poking around the Sun had set and I couldn't find the area I was looking for. Instead I settled on Nothing. I'll revisit the boulder field another day.

DirtySocks85: I love this shot. Is it from an art festival?

Actually it's from a box car behind an art gallery in an old industrial part of town. The guy who owns the gallery was tired of his building being tagged and vandalized with graffiti, so he turned a negative into a positive. He bought a boxcar (the gallery backs up to an old train yard), and dedicated it just to public display of street art. Here's the list of his rules for painting on the boxcar:
