Weekly photo contest | July6 - July 13 | Frame within a frame

This week's contest theme is Frame within a frame. It's been a long time ago according to the master list and it's a composition I always have to remind myself to use. Be creative!

As always, standard rules apply:

The photographs must be your own work.

• You may only submit one photo per contest.
• No commenting or liking photos until after the judging has taken place.
• This contest runs for about a week, starting now.
• At the end of the competition, the judge (last week's winner) will choose a 1st, 2nd and 3rd place photo, providing as much feedback as possible.
• The 1st place winner will start a new thread here with the topic/theme of their choice, and act as the judge for that contest. (Winner has 48 hours to create new theme, after that it defers to 2nd place).
• Be sure to update the Contest Master List as soon as you post a new theme.
• Contest will end July 13th, 2025 at noon CEST.

@richardallan You've got beaten for first entry! Your image is a classic take on the theme. Good execution and exposure.

@C0ncreteBl0nde ncreteblond ok ok. you can take my picture. I recognize the look. Lovely portrait.

@mollyc This a creative approach. I love it. The lighting and composition are also spot on.

@Strider64 This is a type of composition I always fail to make. The branches and leafs make this heron shot much interesting than a 'plain' image without the framing.

@Snowlover Inviting image. I keep going to the reflection in the top right corner. What is it?

@_timo_redux_ Clever! Lots of frames. I get the feeling that you rushed this shot more than you usually do.

@arkitect I like the two separate frames. Although it prevents me from finding a focus point. So I have mixed feelings.

@someoldguy I love the corridor. The exposure is also great. Must have been difficult to get it right. The ornaments and chairs don't add anything (for me!). I have been playing with a crop of your image.

@Janichsan Very clever. Is it a setup? Or is the line up of camera's a beautiful coincedence? Anyhow a nice catch

Podium. A lot of great entries, so this will be difficult.

A terrific contest, and a wonderful, thought-provoking subject; excellent topic and judging, @oblomow.

Personally, as I love urban subjects, I loved the images submitted by @arkitect, (gorgeous colours, subject, setting), @richardallan (Hampton Court is something I never tire of), and the atmospheric and impressive art gallery shot submitted by @_timo_redux_ ; I also liked the lines in both @mollyc's shot, and the image submitted by @someoldguy - the colours, and lines remind me of the country home of French friends of mine.

Oh, wow. Thanks for the win. I didn't expect to win with this – as you already said – technically imperfect photo.

It's in fact mostly a setup: the guy in front with the phone in portrait became an unsuspecting participant, the other two are friends of mine.

I will try to come up with a new topic until tomorrow.

It is more of the white plastic fencing from around the corner of the yard.

Thanks for the commentary , and congrats to all on the podium ..
My image was taken a few years back in Santa Fe N.M. The building is 'El Zaguan' . Built in the mid 1800's . IIRC it was a tough one to compose , couldn't rearrange the furniture as it's a historic building . IIRC there was a railing or something that kept me from moving back . Also had to lighten the shadows some in posr .
