Awesome job everyone. Thanks for the critiques!

Can't wait to try out the next one.

Well done everyone. Mine was just an excuse to try out my flash and gels. The reality was I just didn't give enough time to this one. Will try harder next time.

As well as our worthy winners, I like this one a lot. Is the blue beetle (car not toy) yours? If not did you drive round looking for one?

very interesting subject, great submissions, lovely winners!!

apologies for my absence as of late, been quite busy as it seems with on-screen work clicking away restlessly. currently motion graphic projects on after effects, some retouching photoshop work, an overdue video edit still under works, a wedding photo shoot on Saturday, and soon, an "investigative" installation of Krakatoa in 3d studio max (particle generation & rendering)...too geeky, I know :D

to the next one

on a side note, please cast a vote on the two|one contest #3. we do need a winner by tomorrow and all photos are currently tied.

1st Place: NeGRit0 - You nailed it out of the park this week! This is exactly what I was looking forward to seeing when I posted this theme. It's a creative setup, telling a clear story in a new way. The scale makes it comical, even though we can relate to it. The lighting and composition are spot on, so clean and precise for the kind of story you're trying to tell. I wish you could take this single shot and turn it into a stop motion short film. Very well done!

Thank you for the kind words. definitely one of my more creative shots. Some great entries all around, and I totally didnt think i'd win.

EDIT: new contest is up!

Yes the beetle is ours - we had her rebuilt and sprayed that colour so we didn't ever lose her.
The toy was a present from grandma to my son.

Thanks, DirtySocks -- and great job, everyone.

I was a little short on time, so I wasn't able to execute on some of the lighting ideas that I had. I ended up going with a relatively "safe" bounce off of the ceiling -- it lit everything fairly evenly, but is a little blah, I think. I also felt that the composition was a little busy with all of the pieces, the box, the helmet, etc. I would have liked to have pulled back some for a wider shot, but I ran out of pieces to build the wall with.
