Right. Thats it... Comp closed. Now the real creativity begins....

@truettray superb macro shot of the stamens. Fantastic composition the maximise the colour contrast between the purple of the petals and the yellow centre. Fabulous vibrance.
@dwfaust nice bit of character from the garden. I really like looking at weathered garden items, those which have seen some storms. I really like this but maybe if it wasnt so tight to the left it would have been a tad more balanced.
@needfx a wonderful warm image that conjures up thoughts of summer evenings in the garden with a cold drink and no where to be. The sun peeking through the leaves. Ah... summertime... except i wish there was a sunstar.
@RedOctober what a wonderful image of dew on a web looking like fairy lights in the town square inviting you for some fun and frollicks. Lovely capture.
@Alexander.Of.Oz a truly wonderful abstract of an otherwise bland object. A great way to crank up the interesting details and make a wonderful hypnotic pattern. Fantastic.
@MacRy a lovely capture. Where RedOctobers is like fairy lights, yours is amazingly more structured and the details in the drops is great though I cannot work out if it is the back of a plant care instruction label, or the intentional reflection of a page of a book. Either way, really nice.
@InuNacho I am loving the texture of this image. The grittiness of it and the colours show the age of the damage. Very nice texture shot.
@inkmich keeping with the texture, nothing is more intriguing than distressed wood. So much detail and so much depth to it. Lovely image.
@CmdrLaForge wow. I think it is wood, maybe an aged trunk, the composition makes it look like a landscape and the B&W treatment adds added depth.
@applefanboy you say an average shot, I say above average, well above. The lighting is nicely done, the detail and texture is spot on and it has a feel to it that compels you to look at it more. Nicely done. Nice low key.
@anotherscotsman lovely image in its own right. Fantastic subject matter though I maybe would have lifted the exposure slightly to get more detail in the fruit. Lovely light and colours. I will allow it as it is in a garden and I didnt stipulate your own garden.

No, thank you. The pleasure was most definitely all mine. It is an honour to choose between great pictures. Not easy as they all dserved the podium for different reasons.

The buttercups? They were in a field 1/2 mile away from my garden.
The actual entry was set up and taken specifically for this comp, and although I had two possibles to choose from I stand by my decision as it was the best I could do at the time (feeling rough - not meant to be an excuse), and I was pleased for myself to get something quite good out of it.

It was indeed the care instruction label for the plant and I like how it gave an air of intrigue. Someone also mentioned to me that they thought it was a picture of a mojito or a G&T. Does have that vibe.

There were some much better photos than mine!
Anyway the R1C1 Lighting kit is great for macro, but I'm too lazy to set it up a lot of the time. Anyway as this was in my garden thought I had no excuse! Nikon do make some loverly kit, just wish I could get to use it a bit more often and get the best out of it.
I really liked @RedOctober's web. Very nicely done.

Yes Alex's shot had me staring at it for a few hours. I liked the geometry of it and the composition.

Hmm... need to see how i do in post. Got some tonight of the cliffs lit up but the lights on the wooden walk way up to the hotel. Hoping to make them look nice... time will tell...

My favourite for this week was @RedOctober 's wet web, but @needfx 's glimpse through the leaves was up there too, with me lamenting our lack of sunshine at the moment down under.

It was shot with my iPad Air! It is a close up of one of the woods of this pile of cut down trees which I still have in my garden and I am not sure how to get rid off. So I just stepped out of my house and in my garden which unfortunately looks like this:

Just got to see this competition now; some really rather lovely submissions and terrific shots; loved the shots of the two webs submitted respectively, by @RedOctober and @MacRy.
Others I really liked included @needfx's gorgeous image of the sun slanting through leaves - I loved the sort of lighting that can be captured this way, and @Apple fanboy's striking snail shell.
