Green… Lucky or not.

Today is Friday 13th, Unlucky for some. Or so they say. And while some of us may be treating today with a bit more caution, I’m also keeping in mind that it is Spring and St Patrick’s Day next week.

So! Let’s see some Green in all its glory — it doesn’t have to be a Lucky Green, but it might help your chances. 🙂
It doesn't have to be a plant! All Greens welcome.
From the moss on an old stone wall to the neon of a pub sign.

Have at it photographers! And may the Luck of the Irish be with you.

As always, the standard rules apply:
  • The photographs must be your own work. No AI generated images.
  • You may only submit one photo per contest.
  • No commenting or liking photos until after the judging has taken place.
  • This contest runs for about a week, starting now.
  • At the end of the competition, the judge (last week's winner) will choose a 1st, 2nd and 3rd place photo, providing as much feedback as possible.
  • The 1st place winner will start a new thread here with the topic/theme of their choice, and act as the judge for that contest. (Winner has 48 hours to create new theme, after that it defers to 2nd place).
  • Be sure to update the Contest Master List as soon as you post a new theme.
  • The contest will close on Friday, March 20th at 16:00 PM GMT

Phew! Apologies for the later than planned results update. MY excuse is a delayed flight that got later and later… good ol' Charles De Gaulle T2 delivers yet again. 🤣

Thank you all for participating — I hope the theme was an enjoyable one and brougt us all a taste of Spring in the North and perhaps a look back at the greens of Spring for those down South!

Please excuse me not doing a deep dive, I will endeavor to do beter should there be a next time.

Enough chit chat… the results.

A short line or two on each, in the order they were published.

Kaleidoscope Clovers!
A highly creative interpretation this. The rhythmic shamrock patterns create a mesmerizing "luck of the Irish" dance. 🙂

@kendallm
The Garden Fountain…
A classic, peaceful "Signs of Spring" shot where the lush lawn and stone textures feel incredibly grounded.

@thirsty_monk
Backlit Leaf
Oh, oh oh… lovely. The translucency makes the leaf glow with an electric, hopeful "jolt" of new life.

@C0ncreteBl0nde
La Fée Verte!
I love a bit of Green Fairy myself — sugar cubes and flambé optional… 😁
A bewitching nod to La Fée Verte really captures the intoxicating spirit of the theme with a magical, luminescent glow.

@chown33
The Bullfrog
A lovely wildlife capture… the frog’s wet texture and natural camouflage speaks to me of "Lucky Green."

@BrightQuest22
Cluster of Leaves
Beautifully satisfying repetition… the healthy, deep green and the natural patterns of the leaves are very calming.

@James6s
Urban Laurel
High-impact and bold — the vibrant green bushes provide a fantastic graphic contrast against that deep blue sky.

@oblomow
The Peeking Snake
An incredible, "lucky" macro moment — the vivid green of the snake and its so sweet expression are absolutely striking.

@cjsuk
Patterned Lizard
Our second reptile!
The intricate green-and-black patterns on the scales are beautifully sharp.

@mtbdudex
Mossy Forest
An immersive wall of green. The layers of moss and ferns feel like a lucky, secret escape into the woods.

@Janichsan
Closeup of a butterwort.
A serene, minimalist study
The tiny dewdrops (or pores?) feel like little diamonds found on a spring morning.

Podium:

Bronze
@goldmac2006

Very creative nod to the lucky clovers…

Silver
@thirsty_monk

That translucent, neon glow captures the very soul of the season and provides a beautiful, hopeful start to the new season.

Gold
@oblomow

An incredible lucky capture! And I love it. Usually snakes give me the heebiejeebies! But this little fellow… 😊
The vividness of the green and that perfectly timed, curious expression make this my winner!

Thank you all and onwards to the next contest @oblomow

Thanks for podium spot and the amazing comment ! It’s really a great idea to showcase it with the green clovers in the kaleidoscope toy because it creates so many beautiful patterns, even as you turn the dial.

I placed my iPhone camera on the pinhole of the kaleidoscope in the opening and it turned out well !
