OK let's have a bash at this then.
Some really good entries this week and I found it really tricky to pick my top three. I've had to just make a decision and stick with it otherwise I'll be here all night.
Remember that this is subjective as always and it's what tickles my pickle and not necessarily the best photos that wins.
Pmxperience - That's right up my alley as you probably know. Great subject isolation and I love the look on his face.
Kenoh - I think that's one of your best photos. It has a lovely feel to it and the scale of the trees against your little lass works really well.
Georgeinnj- A voyeuristic kind of shot. Like looking into a secret garden. I just find the big plant in front of the flamingo on the right a bit of a shame.
Malofx - If that wasn't staged then that's a nice capture of the girl's expression. It's a bit too saturated for my tastes, but then I'm a big B&W fan so that's probably just me. I do find the lady in the bottom left a bit distracting as she draws the eye in.
The Bad Guy - That's a cracking portrait mate. The shallow depth of field really adds an ethereal look to an already unusual looking guy (because of the hair). Definitely my favourite portrait of yours.
AlexofOz - Beautiful bit of isolation there. I like the green background. I would have maybe gone for a tighter crop but nice job.
CmdrLaForge - I love that he's munching away. That's some crazy bokeh there. If you hadn't have put the lens in your description I would have guessed it was a vintage one.
Oblomow - It's a good shot but it doesn't really do anything for me I'm afraid. Sorry dude. Perhaps it's the lack of fire extinguishers. Actually I think it would benefit from some darkening of the background and a vignette maybe. Just my taste though.
Stillcrazyman - I love this. Simple and the bokeh has a painterly quality to it. I'm curious as to what lens this was taken with.
Tcphoto1 - That's some stare that lady has! I'm a little frightened. Nice portrait. Was it shot on film or is it processed to look that way? I'm going with processed.
Someoldguy - Simple and effective. I love the colours.
E3BK - Really nice shot. I love the expression of concentration. Nicely done.
Hughmac - You called it underexposed and I think it worked really well. Conjures up the feeling of a warm spring evening. I'd have maybe moved it a little right and up in the frame if it were me.
Jabbott - Yep, nice interpretation of the brief by using a frame to isolate your subject. Nice shot. I do find the little building a bit distracting as it takes focus from the mountains.
Indydenny - I like that the grasshopper is the same green as the background. Gives it a nice colour theme. Perhaps a tighter crop so that it just includes the grasshopper and the flowers on the left maybe?
Janichsan - Like the flamingo shot this feels a bit voyeuristic. I think it works but I'm not a fan of the foreground blur. That's just a personal preference though.
Inkmich - Nicely done but to me it feels a bit out of context on the log. It's technically good but would work better for me if it was in a more interesting setting.
Robotti - That's just good! A really dynamic shot. Impressive skills from the lady as well. I like the location too. Really nice.
Rx7dude - Fantastic macro shot. Yep. I wouldn't change it. Actually I would - I'd vignette the **** out of it, but that's because I have a vignette addiction. Top job.
Laird Knox - Always barrelling in at the last minute 🙂 - Good shot. A bit twee for my liking though I'm afraid.
So that's the critique out of the way. Hopefully I haven't offended anyone with my comments. We're all big enough and ugly enough to take it though eh 😉 On to the winners:
3rd place goes to Kenoh for his lovely portrait of his daughter. It definitely evoked some kind of emotion for me and I don't even like children, so that's impressive.
2nd place goes to Pmxperience for his brilliant street shot on the train. That is right up my alley. I love the guys expression. He looks exactly how I feel when I'm commuting on the tube in London.
1st place goes to Robotti for his acrobatic muse. Really nicely composed and dynamic.
I really struggled over the top three. They switched places a lot before I came to a final decision. Given another hour the winner would have been different again. Good job guys and gals.
Special mention to Adam's shot of the white haired dude. It didn't quite fit the brief I had in my head but it's a belter of a portrait and one of your best I reckon.

Great judging. Thanks for the podium spot. Did not expect my little princess to earn me a seat at the big table tbis week. Some strong contenders up against us. Fanrastic shots this week guys. The comp is getting stronger week on week. Wow!
Macry had his work cut out for him though. I think this comp had more entrants than any other of late did it?

Thanks. They were both from the same wedding. For most of my images I'm working with the hyper-focal distance so narrow depth of field shots are few and far between. 🙂
Fantastic job done on the judging and feedback, this was a very good week of entries all around. Congrat's go to Robotti for a stellar image and the win!

She is a contortionist and a circus artist and does this all the time. I shoot with her regularly and sometimes it makes you wonder what's a hand and what's a leg. There's some more in my instagram at https://www.instagram.com/mikkokarsisto/ if you are interested. And will be much, much more later.
I'll think of a new theme and come back tomorrow with it. Now to get some sleep!

I'm not sure it's really an exciting story. It's actually an old photo from the archives, 2008 I believe and I've always really loved it. I was with some friends who were in town on a mini-tour and I decided to join them on the road trip to their next city - Philly. it was my first time to Philly and one day we were walking around and we heard the violin. I remember we were surprised that it was a young boy playing. He was very good! He was so concentrated on the music that he didn't realize that 5 young ladies were staring at him. haha.
Anyway, this was nearly a decade ago when I had decided to start shooting again so my photo skills were a bit rusty and it was mostly just for fun. But if you want to see the rest of the album, click here.

Thanks for the kind words and top judging this week. It's always easy for me to get awesome street shots in Asia since everyone actively goes out of their way to avoid eye contact with me. Especially on the MTR (train).
