What a great set of photos. I think you’ve all caught the spirit of dusk, you certainly haven’t made it easy to judge.

@mollyc made me smile. The colours of the sinking sun shine through and the blur adds it’s own part of the story

@Steven-iphone woods can be dark and dusky places. Lots of intrigue here, what is hiding in the shadows

@oblomow a photo that should be printed and hung on the wall. I like the use of reflection as the sun goes to rest

@OldMacs4Me another couple of minutes and the light would be gone. One wonders what stories are being written in the shadows.

@katbel a photo that makes you want to be there, sitting watching the view and the mackerel sky.

@someoldguy beautiful rendition of the suns last rays coupled with the primordial rocks. I like this one a lot

@bsamcash the rocks, the waves, the glow. The rocks speak of ancient stories of geology.

@VulchR what can I say, you’ve captured it all. The light, the composition, the mood. The moon is the icing on the cake.

@Idun098TZZ nice use of the river to draw the eyes to the sunset. A very mood filled shot

@imac wannabe a photo that appeals to me as an aviation enthusiast. It’s a view I can never tire of. I imagine myself sitting there with my forehead glued to the window, looking forward to my holiday.

@Apple_Glen_UK another shot that calls out to me. An evening walk before heading home for a wee dram

@Janichsan the light, the colours, the solitude. Nicely captured and presented

@mackmgg colours well captured while retaining some detail in the shadows. The calm of the evening calls out to me

It hasn’t been easy selecting a winner, not much separating the top 2 in my opinion.

3rd - @oblomow - @katbel - @imac wannabe
2nd - @VulchR
1st - @someoldguy

Special mentions - @Apple_Glen_UK and @mackmgg

Thank you all for telling your stories of dusk. You’ve left me with a big smile on my face.

Baton handed over to @someoldguy

I can imagine the difficulties to decide for this one: all beautiful!
Congratulations to the winner and the others on the podium
Thanks to the judge for considering me : I would like so much to be in Hawaii too!

Technically Its the bit after sunset. The further you are from the equator the longer it lasts

for example today:
Glasgow in Scotland at nearly 56N, sunset was 15:53, end of dusk was 16:37, so nearly 45 minutes.
Las Palmas in Gran Canaria at 28N, sunset was 18:07, end of dusk 18:32, 25 minutes
