November. Autumn on the northern hemisphere, spring on the southern. Both prone to get drizzly and wet.
  • The photographs must be your own work. No AI generated images.
  • You may only submit one photo per contest.
  • No commenting or liking photos until after the judging has taken place.
  • This contest runs for about a week, starting now.
  • At the end of the competition, the judge (last week's winner) will choose a 1st, 2nd and 3rd place photo, providing as much feedback as possible.
  • The 1st place winner will start a new thread here with the topic/theme of their choice, and act as the judge for that contest. (Winner has 48 hours to create new theme, after that it defers to 2nd place).
  • Be sure to update the Contest Master List as soon as you post a new theme.
  • Contest will end November 20, 2025 at noon CET.

@Janichsan : The title of the contest says the contest runs through tomorrow, November 20th, but your first post reads:
  • Contest will end November 13, 2025 at noon CET.
Just a typo carried over from the last contest, I assume? 🤣 I just noticed it.

Correct. I forgot to edit that.

A few more hours to go!

Clock is ticking.... 23:42 CET :)
😝

So, yeah, that really wasn't easy, as there are a lot of great photos. As always, the feedback and judging is purely my personal opinion:

@ecapdeville Reflections of streetlights on a rainwet street are in my opinion always a fascinating motive. The photo would profit from a different crop, as there's not much going on in the foreground.

@arkitect One of multiple photos shot through a window covered in raindrops (a car window, I assume?). Out of focus pedestrians with umbrellas pass by on the outside. I like the framing and the drops in focus lead the eye to the right most person.

@kendallm Street fotography on a rainy day, capturing a fleeting everyday moment. For some reason, I'm guessing this is London? The black and white and low key illumination creates an somewhat intimate atmosphere. It looks a bit tilted to the right, though. (Out of curiosity: is the look emulating a specific type of analogue film?)

@cbautis2 Another shot through a rainy car window, this time with the rear lights of a preceeding car. I agree with your accompagnying comment from the POTD thread that the bokeh of the lights make for an interesting pattern. Also, that's surprisingly good bokeh for a phone camera.

@C0ncreteBl0nde A rainslick country road on a very November-looking drizzly day. I like how the colour grading enhances that atmosphere of a gray, unpleasant autumn day.

@goldmac2006 More droplets on a window, with some powerlines in the background. Since the drops seem to have been pushed across the window, I'm assuming either also a car window or a very windy day.

@_timo_redux_ Obviously New York, with the Empire State Building lit up on a rainy night. The spotlight and the illuminated building on the left create an interesting second axis in the image. The rain barely plays a role, though.

@OldMacs4Me Fourth photo of rain running down a window. Amazing bokeh of the light spots in the background, with the low-key exposure making the drops and the lights standing out.

@oblomow A dimly-lit cozy small alleyway leading the way to a brightly illuminated gothic church. A very atmospheric and well composed, although somewhat grainy shot. This is obviously a European town, but which one?

@iPhone-Guy It took me a moment to realise that this is a shopping cart. Great close-up shot of a raindrop hanging from the cart's wireframe, with the cart being refracted in the droplet. The horizontal bar and positioning of the drop structure the photo greatly, and the shallow depth of field makes the motive simply intruiging.

Phew... so here's my judgement:

3rd place: @kendallm Very atmospheric inpromptu street photography.

2nd place: @iPhone-Guy A fascinating close-up of the droplet.

1st place: @OldMacs4Me The colours and the focus simply make the photo pop.

Over to you, OldMacs4Me!

Thanks for running the competition @Janichsan

Congrats to @OldMacs4Me That is a worthy winner.

I know what you mean about my photo… another rainy window photo. 🤣
I must admit to some failure of imagination… though that was the day we were deluged by Storm Claudia here in the UK. It rained and rained. I was sitting inside having a coffee and watching the umbrellas streaming by, fighting the wind and rain. I thought, "Hmmm why not?"

I actually wanted to change my submission as I found a far better image, but didn't know if that was allowed within the Rules.

Looking forward to the next challenge @OldMacs4Me

Completely unexpected as there was at least one that I liked better. That leaves me scrambling to come up with a subject. Will post whatever it is this evening once I come up with something. Congrats all around to everyone else who posted, excellent entries all around.

EDIT: Gonna add thanks to @Janichsan for coming up with what was for me an extremely challenging subject. This has to be the only image in 20 years of digital archives that fit the bill and luck played its part.

Good eye, this is in London! I actually submitted this to a pervious weekly contest for a Neo-Noir theme, so I was sort of going for an old-film look with the edit here.
