    Rules:

    1. You may only submit one photo per contest.

    2. The contest runs for exactly one week, from the first time stamp of the first post in the thread (this will be made by the winner of the previous week's contest).

    3. Please refrain from commenting on the photos submitted in the contest. A good photograph is one that can appeal to someone who may not know much about the technical aspects of photography, so it would be best if the judge isn't swayed by someone else's opinion of the photograph.

    4. The judge will choose his/her favorite at the end of the week, place a post listing it, and include a short synopsis of why he/she chose that photo. The winner is then responsible for choosing a new topic and starting a new contest thread, which will again run for exactly one week.

    This week's theme is: Food

Interpret it any way you like.

A list of previous contests and their winners can be found here.

I do not remember what these are called, but I was told they are edible. I shot this in the Uplands on Maui.

Shot with nikon d40 and compressed for web. The colors don't look nearly as good online as they do on my screen, but ah well.

    and the winner is....

3rd, liljohnny51: I just love how the texture and juiciness comes through. great shot and excellent contrast/color.

2nd, oblomow: I liked this a lot simply because there is so much to see in the foto. Everytime I look at it i see something else. I have been to markets like those and I can nearly smell the spices. well captured!
    and finally...

1st, Chappers: I liked this a lot, this a rare shot and it is really sharp. it falls fullyi within food and overall its just good macro photography.

Chappers off to you. You have 2 days to start the new thread, otherwise it's off to the runner up.

    Thanks everyone for contributing.
