This week I would like to see light as the main feature of your image. Artificial, natural, or mixed, light should be the feature of your image. I'd prefer not to have things like neon signs or holiday lights be the focus, but rather the actual light itself, where if the specific lighting scenario was changed, then the image wouldn't work.

The usual rules apply (new participants, please read):

 1. The photographs must be your own work.
 2. You may only submit one photo per contest.
 3. No commenting or liking photos until after the judging has taken place (ie, don't be like me).
 4. This contest runs for one week, starting now.
 5. At the end of the week, The Judge (last week's Winner) will choose a 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place photo, providing as much feedback as possible.
 6. The 1st place Winner will start a new thread with the topic/theme of their choice, and act as the Judge for that contest. (Winner has 48 hours to create new theme, after that it defers to 2nd place).

I’ll bite. Not sure if this fits the requirement this week but here it is anyway.

This is from my recent trip to Athens, Greece. That’s Parthenon , all lit up at night. A view from my hotel terrace bar with a glass of gin and tonic after an entire day of travel and sightseeing.

The view was awesome on its own but then the beam of light from somewhere near the ancient market place gave it some more character. I’m not sure what that beam of light was about but looked cool nonetheless.

And mollyc already knows what I shoot with think it came out alright actually.

Updated entry -

Found this one in my collection from the trip to Norway last year. I think this suits the theme better with the photographer in the frame and the Aurora lit up sky.

4x5 Ektachrome of Rochester, NY skyline reflection on the Genesee River. I took this around 1963 when I worked for RIT as the staff photographer. We used it as the center piece of an exhibit we built for the Alumni Association for a convention in Chicago. We drove it there, set it up and drove it home. I built a rear projection system for the main exhibit and angled side panels for the sides. Printed all the 8x10 color photos on the new Kodak drum processors. White streak is a plane coming in for a landing.

only nine entries?? :(

luckily you all still have one more day to enter! 🙂

Unfortunately I'm a little 'light' on time as both my dogs are quite sickly at the moment (vet visit and lots of carpet cleaning, no more detail needed).

Cheers :) and good luck everyone,

Hugh
oh hugh....i hope they are better soon. (ps archive photos okay)

The vet wasn’t too worried, but I’m frazzled as one dog is getting better but the other can’t always make it to the garden in time.
If I get the chance I’ll have a look through my archives.

Cheers :)

Hugh

No way I'm gonna match the quality of these photos...but I'll try at a different contest. Thanks for sharing everyone!
