Let's see your use of color this week with the theme of "Color Pop." Interpretation is up to you. I am currently working on selecting a portfolio of images for an annual compeititon where this happens to be one of the categories and I always love to see how different people select images for a somewhat broad theme.

As always, standard rules apply:

• The photographs must be your own work. No AI generated images.

• You may only submit one photo per contest.

• No commenting or liking photos until after the judging has taken place.

• This contest runs for about a week, starting now.

• At the end of the competition, the judge (last week's winner) will choose a 1st, 2nd and 3rd place photo, providing as much feedback as possible.

• The 1st place winner will start a new thread here with the topic/theme of their choice, and act as the judge for that contest. (Winner has 48 hours to create new theme, after that it defers to 2nd place).

• Be sure to update the Contest Master List as soon as you post a new theme.

• Contest will end September 19, 2025 at noon EDT.

Hi, all, thanks for participating this week!

@goldmac2006 what a fun clock! I'd categorize this more as monochromatic vs color pop since everything is kind of in the same color family.

@dwrufus53 the neon definitely pops! Compositionally I'd love to see the entire wheel, but you definitely hit the theme for this week.

@oblomow these are the kinds of mushrooms that seem like they should just be imaginary, and yet I learned a few years ago (and here!) that they really are real. I do really love the red against the green here.

@C0ncreteBl0nde well the entire image is super colorful! Like above, I do wish the entire subject was fully in the frame. I'm not sure if this is a sit-around/decoration, but it looks like it would be a really fun cake topper for a little girl's cake.

@Mister Do It wow there are a lot of bright colors in this. A little overprocessed for my taste.

@bunty07 the fuschia azalea flower for sure pops against the leaves. Welcome to the thread!

@kendallm oh, such a lovely use of color. I really love the quiet feel and the reflection. Just really well composed.

@OldMacs4Me super fun flower - the single flower seems to be a popular subject this week. Well exposed with the bright yellow.

@Snowlover selective color was not on my bingo card for this challenge! Probably should have expected it. This has a very Halloween vibe about it.

@iPhone-Guy the macro take on the flower is a fun approach. Great focus.

@Apple_Glen_UK another selective color entry! This is a more effective use of selective color than I am used to seeing and it fits the image well.

@aperfectcircle I am a little distracted by the blown out sleeve on your subject's dress but the fans behind her are really fun.

@thirsty_monk another really quiet frame; I admit to being a quiet photographer so this one tugs at my heartstrings. Really good use of color here.

@arkitect so similar to the image above yours but yet still so different. What a beautiful location.

I love that you all had such individual approaches to this week, even if there was a little overlap here and there. All your images clearly featured color as a main element to your compositions.

Alas, I do have to list out some winners, so here we are:

3. @arkitect and @thirsty_monk Sorry, I can't choose between these two!

2. @oblomow A simple image yet very striking with the great use of the red.

1. @kendallm Yes....all the yeses to this.

Thanks for participating this week! Have a great weekend everyone. ❤️

Thanks! Thought colour block would fit in this case but it’s a 3D printed mechanical clock a friend in my high school’s engineering class had assembled and my teacher used it as a decoration for his shop

❤️ it’s like a bird 🦅

Photography 10: Don't get so focused on your subject that you miss what's behind you. Was photographing the lovely Rose Garden at the Lebel Mansion and in particular the new wrought iron deer (de)fence. Shown here:

Congrats to @kendallm That's a lovely photo indeed.

Thanks @mollyc for the mention. I appreciate it… The Isle of Portland is great for photography locations. Used as a stone quarry over many centuries it has been left a scarred and dramatic landscape with an immensely strong tidal current around the point where the lighthouse stands.
