I'm pretty surprised that this theme hasn't come up yet, but its one of my favorite subjects as you've probably seen in a lot of my submissions. Let's see your take on urban landscapes. This could be urban design, architecture, parks, etc. Something where the city is the subject and not necessarily the people. I think there is a lot of beauty in cities and concrete jungles.

As always, standard rules apply:
  • The photographs must be your own work. No AI generated images.
  • You may only submit one photo per contest.
  • No commenting or liking photos until after the judging has taken place.
  • This contest runs for about a week, starting now.
  • At the end of the competition, the judge (last week's winner) will choose a 1st, 2nd and 3rd place photo, providing as much feedback as possible.
  • The 1st place winner will start a new thread here with the topic/theme of their choice, and act as the judge for that contest. (Winner has 48 hours to create new theme, after that it defers to 2nd place).
  • Be sure to update the Contest Master List as soon as you post a new theme.
  • Contest will end September 27, 2025 at 1pm ET.

@dwrufus53 I love the feel of this one! I think the cool tones in the colors work well and it shows the beauty in urban environments.

@goldmac2006 This is dope! Catching the rainbow in the photo is a nice element, but I wish there wasn't so much emptiness to the scene. It does look like an older Vegas photo, but it leaves me wanting a bit more for some reason.

@someoldguy The NYC skyline is one of my favorite views! I love the composition of this. You get all of the elements of the city in one picture.

@mollyc Wow, this is a beautiful picture! The sunset in the background turned something that would normally feel "familiar" to something beautiful!

@bunty07 The angle of this give the picture a ton of depth. It adds a vastness to the photo that makes the city feel huge!

@OldMacs4Me This is a pretty interesting picture. Theres a lot of elements in it that make it seem very intentional. The ripple in the reflections makes it a more interesting scene to me. The tones from the film almost makes it feel like something found in a time vault.

@C0ncreteBl0nde Found an urban landscape in the sticks! I'm not sure if it was intentional or not, but I immediately focused on the 2 red cars in picture. It feels like the angle was setup just to get that framing and I like it a lot! I wish the cars felt like the subject of the photo, but I think the editing pulls away from them as the focal point a bit.

@oblomow The crow makes the rest of the scene feel small in comparison! It almost feels like the crow is on a doll house! I think its a nice picture, but misses the urban feel IMO.

@Apple_Glen_UK The editing on this is cool! I like that it feels colorful but still gritty somehow.

@Jonk1183 I love the fullness of the clouds in this picture. It gives a very happy vibe to the scene. I wish the bare rooftop was cropped out as it takes away from what is otherwise a nice picture.

@thirsty_monk This is awesome! I think the tone of this picture is great! I also really like how the towers and the darkness in the bottom of the photo makes it feel like there is more to the scene, but I can't quite put my finger on it. You can make out the silhouette of other buildings, but it also feel like it could be a village tucked somewhere in the middle of a forest. This is a very captivating image.

@Janichsan I like how the colorful homes contrasts the grey of the buildings behind it. It feels like the picture could be more impactful if it was more head on vs at an angle, but I imagine finding a spot to get a better angle was challenging.

@arkitect I feel like the most interesting parts of this photo are the least emphasized. The smoke stacks all over the skyline is great but it doesn't feel like they are the subject of the image. I'm not quite sure what I should be focusing on so it feels a bit bland to me :(

This was a fun one for me and I got some I got some interesting interpretations on what urban is from some of you! I was pleasantly surprised most of the entries!

Thanks for the compliment. It’s when it rained a lot during the summer vegas monsoons in 2021 so in the Rio suite I stayed in it had big windows that I could take a picture of the rainbow

What a terrific topic, (one that is close to my heart as I thrill to the feel of asphalt beneath my feet, especially if it has been worn smooth from the impact of thousands of feet over hundreds - if not, thousands, - of years), along with some excellent and fair-minded judging, @kendallm.

Loved the shots submitted by @mollyc, (lovely lighting, composition and content), @someoldguy (an iconic perspective, elegantly shot), @arkitect (well, I love ancient and antique urban settings), and @thirsty_monk (glorious; the colours, composition, content, framing, and setting are all wonderful).
