Weekly Photo Contest - 1st - 8th August, 2015

Welcome to this week's photo contest !

For this week, I've chosen Employment as the theme. There are several different meanings so please interpret as you see fit.
The brief is brief to give a wider choice.

Rules:

Be creative and have fun.

You may only submit one photo per contest.

Please do not comment on photos until after the judging has taken place.

The contest runs for exactly one week, starting NOW! (see time/date stamp at the start of this thread.)

At the end of the week, The Judge (last week's Winner) will choose a 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place photo, providing as much feedback as possible. (Judge has 24 hours to make decision.)

The 1st place Winner will start a new thread with the topic/theme of their choice, and act as the Judge for that contest. (Winner has 48 hours to create new theme, after that it defers to 2nd place).

Please note it might overrun by up to an hour because I may still be at work when the contest finishes, but I will try to give a warning when I'm ready to close it.

Cheers, and have fun :)

Thank you everybody, contest is now closed.

I'll be back with results when I'm home from work, fed and have a cold Guiness in my hand :)

Cheers :)

OK, home now and knackered.
Sorry for the brevity of this, but I'm due back in at 6am and need to get my sleep in :(

AlexH
Definitely an uphill struggle here - great in B&W with good contrast.

MacRy
Another superb B&W - by the solemn faces I reckon they're on their way to work rather than going home.

tomnavratil
Nice photo of the monks, but I would have liked to have seen them coming towards rather than moving away.

JoeRito
A little indistinct I'm afraid - I would have liked to see this place of employment in better light.

Miltz
Nice but a little cluttered with a slightly unusual angle - I'd love to know what the lady is doing?

filmbufs
Lovely shot, great detail of the leaves etc. being swept away by the water jet.

Apple fanboy
Good, one of the other interpretations of employment. Bees are amongst the hardest workers around. You must be loving your new macro.

kenoh
You must be thinking you're mad to take on all this work, but you'll be well employed at home for ages yet. Nice pic.

Melizard
Good photo of what I would think to be a slightly dangerous occupation.

All great stuff everybody, but unfortunately I have to choose the top three -

3rd Place - MacRy
2nd Place - filmbufs
1st Place - AlexH

Thanks for taking part...

Cheers :)

Congrats, everyone and thanks for the kind words and recognition, Hughmac. Especially if you were judging while 'knackered.' lol

Well done everyone.
Yes I love my macro lens a lot. Not really sure it fitted the theme. I did have another idea of taking a picture of our local immigrant car wash. Those lads work pretty hard, but tbh I'm not much of a people person and bottled it! Then filmbufs went and did the pressure washer shot.
On to the next one!

Thanks Hugh for your critique and congrats to the winners - some great entries again this week! I thought I could do well but then I've seen other entries and I could see my chances disappearing again, maybe next week again. :)

Well done to all entries, @Melizard s entry gave me vertigo even without seeing the potential drop!

I'll have to wait till next weeks competition and I get back home again. I was thinking about showing something in use for this weeks 'employment' theme, but didn't have anything to just choose from the phone.

Up again and off to work in a mo !

Thanks all for your kind comments above; as Ish pointed out they're all winners, and when judging it sometimes has to come down to personal preference.

Cheers :)
