where hip is spoken
I know there are places on the net to get the hard specs for the individual pieces, but I'd like to hear from those who actually own the combo (2018 12.9 iPad Pro and Folio Keyboard)...

What is the combined weight of the 12.9 Pro and Folio Keyboard?

When the iPad is in the Folio keyboard case, and the case closed, how thick is this combination?

I'm trying to get a feel for how practical it would be to use this combo in tablet mode with the keyboard folio still attached.

thanks!

I can give you that information for the Smart Folio cover without keyboard. It weights 238 grams which is 83 grams heavier than the old one sided Smart Cover from the former 12.9 iPP (155 grams). Because the Folio is double sided it should be about 2 mm thicker than the old Smart Cover.

As I am using my iPP most of the time with the Smart Cover this means that new iPP is heavier and thicker with the Smart Folio than the former gen 2 12.9 iPP! The 2018 12.9 iPP non cellular is 37 gram heavier and the cellular is 24 grams heavier in comparison. With the double sided Folio it is also about 1 mm thicker than the former one.

So one can ask why did they throw away the weight and thickness advantage with the cover and why are they hiding the beautiful aluminium back that feels also much nicer in the hand than this plastic cover. In addition this array of magnets on the back might give lots of problems for mechanical watch owners, magnetic credit card holders and people with metal tables. All this only for the thick, heavy an ugly double sided cover...
