How much weight loss can you gain by removal of the super drive in a late 2011? All related post are for older models

just remove it or replace it with an optibay and 2nd hard drive

the optical drive not that heave its around 100grams (less the 4 ounces)

if your replacing with an optibay/2nd hard drive that you will not make it lighter

The drive should be about the same weight and should be identical to the early 2011 model.

Not enough for you to notice. The advantage of pulling the optical drive is to give you a space to install another hard drive. Pulling it just for the sake of weight isn't going to yield much savings

You should delete as many files as possible, the accumulation will make your HDD weigh more. You'll notice about as much weight difference as removing the optical drive.

I lost about 20 pounds after I did that.

Oh wait, you meant the computer.

Yeah, see earlier posts, it's not enough to bother with.

Incidentally, I made that first part up.

How much weight loss can you gain? Sounds like an oxymoron :D

The difference in weight should be marginal.
