Weird actions by CD-Rom driver

Hello
im trying to install iWork and iLife and both cds arent working, however when i inserted the snow leopard booting cd it worked normally, i thought that the other cds arent working but when i used my old macbook they worked.what could be the problem?i just booted and everything is new.
im using macbook Pro 10.6.6 - 15 inch

A work-around would be to use the computer the work in to make disk images, then transfer those to the computer they don't work in.

I have no idea why they're not working.
