Weird Airport Extreme behavior

I have an Airport Extreme and 2 Airport Express units connected to my network. I keep seeing the AExtreme flashing its yellow light, indicating some type of trouble. I have them setup as a WDS.

However, when I open Airport Utility, the light immediately changes to green and I cannot see anything wrong with the setup or errors.

Anyone have any idea what may be causing the light to flash yellow ONLY when Airport Utility is NOT running?

Have you checked the logs in the Airport Utility to see if anything strange shows up?

Yes, I checked the Console but your shot reminded me of that menu and lo and behold...

So, one of my Express units is disconnecting itself and re-connecting only when the utility is open. Weird.

I may have to move it maybe? or something else is going on. Don't seem to notice any problems when walking around and using wireless, so not sure what's up.

Have you reset all of the devices?
What is the signal strength like regarding the one disassociating with the Extreme?
How old is it? - It could dying a slow death.

Yeah, thought about the death thing too. They are both originals. 1st gen models.

Strength is good. They are spread out but still fairly close. Not real good at this so cannot quote actual numbers.
