I have the wierdest problem with my x1900xt on my mac pro and dont really know what could be the cause. You see whenever i start my mac pro i get no display what so ever but it boots without any problem. Once i assume im at the desktop (i have auto sign in turned on) i press the power button to sleep the machine. Once the machine is asleep (the front button begins pulsing) i press it again and the mac wakes up with display and everything as if there was no error. I have no idea what could be causing it or if there is anyway to fix it. Im open to all suggestions. I have tried PRAM and removing refIT. Please anyone with any suggestions let me know

    probably going bad.

I just replaced my x1900xt in my Mac Pro 1,1 (2006) with the ATI Radeon HD 4870 Graphics Card from Apple. My x1900 was causing many of my system freezes and weird lines through my windows.

I went with the one from Apple since it is fully supported and I don't have to worry about firmware upgrades and patches everytime Apple updates the OS.
For me its worth the extra money to not have to worry about it.

On a performance note, I wasn't really expecting much change from my previous card since both have 512mb RAM, but the new card is considerably faster!! Aperture 3 now FLIES through my library... Amazingly fast... where my old card took much longer to load the images.

Well worth the upgrade. I purchased from B&H Photo - good service, no tax, inexpensive shipping!!

I just find it odd that the card will work flawlessly after i sleep and wake the system. it just dosent show any video on boot. I just wanted to know if anyone has seen anything similar to insure that the problem is the video card and not something else
