My iPhone XS's time settings are set by default to 'Auto' so it auto adjusts when travelling to different time zones. I also have my my Roaming settings turned on.

So at the weekend, I spent a few days down in Dover and for those who don't know, France is just a short boat ride away, across the English Channel via the Dover to Calais crossing.

Whilst I was down in Dover, I noticed that my iPhone's time kept jumping an hour forward because even though I was indeed in Dover, the phone kept thinking I was in Paris so kept adjusting the time - so my S4 Apple Watch also adjusted to what my iPhone showed?!?!

Even though I kept manually turning the 'Auto' feature off, in order to reset the time to the correct UK time, once I then turned 'Auto' back on, after a while, the phone would again pick up 'Paris' and would adjust to French time??!?

This was also happening on my wife's iPhone 7 too whilst we were both in Dover (both on current iOS firmware)???!

Thoughts?

Settings > Mobile Data > Network Selection > Set it to manual and select your network.

It sounds like your phone chose to connect to a French network. It might be that the French network had a stronger connection and your phone would automatically connect to it as your phone’s network selection was set to Automatic.
